I don't believe you are British. No British person would use the word 'Mom'.

So, American person, the simple truth is that there is no such thing as a free house, unless you crash at a friends gaff. Even then you are likely to get thrown out after a while for being pikey and not buying your own place.

Get a job and get a place to live. Its not hard.

You need to go to your nearest neighbourhood office and make a homeless application, you will need a letter from your mom stating why you can no longer live there, take all forms of I.D and proof of income. They will then make a decision on your application within 28 days and decide whether you made yourself homeless or not. If you are successful, you will be put in a b&b until they find you a hostel or you may be put straight into a hostel and go on the waiting list for a flat (you will get a bedsit or a 1 bed flat-not a house) and remember you have to take what they offer you (1 offer only) otherwise you are not classed as homeless. If you are in dire need and cannot wait 28 days for a decision, you need to go to the office as soon as it opens and sit there all day with your bags until they get you a hostel. while you are living at the hostel I suggest that you put your name down with some housing associations also, but these do not give out emergency accommodation, you may have to wait upto 3 or 4 years on the list. I went through the same thing at 17, i'm 23 now and i'm a homeless support worker. Good luck!

You need to get in touch with your local council as soon as possible and tell them you are going to be homeless at the end of the month. If you don't or can't work, then they will take responsibility for getting a roof over your head - but bear in mind, you may end up in a hostel or B and B while you are on the waiting list for a house. It's not easy, trust me, because I went through the exact same situation when I was 23.

If you do work, you have more options, but you will still have to pay rent and council tax related to your income when you are allocated somewhere.

People often think that living on benefits in a council house is an easy ride - it isn't.

To be quite honest it really depends on where you live and what government party is in place, if you have labour or conservative you have no chance because all the flats are going to asylum seekers. If you have lib dems or the British National Party you are OK, you will get a flat. I was told this by a councilor who was BNP. My daughter applied for a flat a few months ago and was told no way but conservative were in place and now after the election she was phoned and offered a flat because the BNP got in by us. Dont mean to sound racist because I'm not, but that's the way it is now.

go 2 your local council and tell them what is happening so they have time to sort something out for you. i had the same problem last year. you mite have to go into bed and breakfast or a hostal if there is nothing availible but you will be high on the list for a flat. i doubt you will get a house though they usally go to pregnant woman or people with kids living with them.

oh yeah even if your on benifits you have to pay a small amount towards your rent every week. id love a free place to live but it doesnt work like that anywhere apart from shop doorways

It really does depend - are you working? If you aren't then yes you may qualify for free/cheaper housing.
If not then look in to house share/flatmate situation or if you are working then look at buying - House prices are slowly rising at the minute but not that quickly and now might be a good time to buy.

Good luck

Why would the council give you, a single abled-bodied man a flat or house when there are disabled and pregnant women living on the streets....

Be a man, get a job and stop scrounging mine and everybody else's hard earned taxes!
