If you have a drinking problem, then the reason isn't the bottle.

There is a reason you started drinking in the first place. For some reason you have chosen alcohol as your crutch to deal with it.

Until you determine why you started, you will have great difficulty in stopping. Look at Patrick Kennedy-2 days out of rehab, and got a DUI.

I'm not trying to discourage you. Anyone can say "Don't drink". The key is finding out why you drink. Elminate the reason.

The drinking is a symptom. If you had cancer, would you want to treat the pain or the disease? The disease, of course. The pain is merely a symptom of the disease.

Your drinking is merely a symptom of why you drink. Find the disease.

And you are the one who has to do this: no one else can do it for you. Professionals can help, but this is all you.

As of yesterday 06/20/06 I am 20 years sober! I am qualified to speak on this. I have worked for diversion programs, detox's and recovery homes. The first step is admitting you have a problem. Once you do that 100% you are ready to stop drinking. Still unsure attend an AA meeting, don't panic I don't mean talk or admit anything. Call your local AA office (yellow pages) find a "Speakers Meeting" I am often asked to speak at such meetings. You will not be required to do anything. Just listen to the stories. go to a couple of these an listen with open mind. Still want to stop find someone at one of these meetings (same sex please) who has been sober for a few years and ask them to help you. If you need more help find a recovery home where you can go for 30 or more days to get the help you need. Most insurance covers this if not many have sliding pay scales or put you on assistance. It wont be easy but tell as many people as you can your plan they can help as moral support. I hope that was of some help anymore questions email me

I don't think you can stop at once. Try to lower the quantity of your drinks. That might help.
I just love to get drunk... It's so much fun... Hey you only get to live once....
GOOD LUCK

Um..you mean like...sober up? Ha. You can't. It will go away on its own, there is no real remedy for hangovers or sobering up. Not coffee, not cold showers, nothing. Now, to try to prevent hangovers, I suggest chasing your shot swith apple juice or some sort of juice that will replenish your electrolytes. Also, eat pretzels while yo udrink- they absorb the aocohol, but you still get drunk.

i am a recovering alcoholic and its not as easy as "stop drinking"
you WILL come to a point when things just pile up and when you do drink it tastes like ****. take advantage of that time and keep in mind not only how shitty beer or whatever tastes and about all the things in life you've missed because of it. denial will tell you you've missed nothing but i think we both know better. quit for yourself and yourself alone. from experience i'll tell you, your mess will not clean itself up but once you've cleaned it things are so much better.
