press record and cant see thru the view-finder

By on screen, I assume you mean on a TV screen. There is a plug on your camcorder and a cable that came with it to connect it to a TV. Use that cable and make the connections.
The cable usually has three round plugs on one end, with three colors, Red, White and Yellow. Connect them to plugs on your TV with the same colors, Red to Red, White to White, etc.
I mention "press record and cant see thru the view-finder." This makes me think something is wrong with the camera. Either there is no power or the camcorder needs repair. Try charging the battery or changing to a new battery and charging it.
The camcorder should operate while the charging cable is connected. Once you have it connected, try the view-finder and or the 'press record' to see if it works then.
If those things don't help, you may need to contact Samsung about how to get the repairs you need. Hopefully you still have warranty on the camera. If so, you may need to send the camera to them for repairs. You will be without for a while, but it should work when it is returned.
