Challah is just the proper name for a braided type of braid traditional to cultural Judaism, and typically used in Seder.

Gentiles have found it to be very tasty with turkey, bean sprouts, lettuce, tomato and guacamole.

Actually it's not really a white bread. It's yellow, cause it's made with egg yolks. Braided and given an egg-wash for shine, it is often sprinkled lightly with sesame seeds. It is a big part of the Jewish tradition, and is one of the center pieces of the Sabbath ceremony layout (every Friday, not just Seder). Fans of french toast will love this in place of your usual bread. Cut it thick and enjoy the chewy goodness. Yum!
