Nora R has it right. It's better to be a true christian than a false one. Don't force yourself to be a christian---that is dishonest. That IS the message I was saying all along about my atheism---why I cannot be a christian and be honest with myself concurrently.
I echo Nora---be true to yourself, love. :-) Your life is a journey. It does not end when you proclaim yourself a certain Path. :-)

You either believe or you don't. It's like being in an adoptive family who have chosen not to tell you you're adopted. You hear about adoptive families, but you believe you are in a family with your biological parents. You might try many things to find out if you have some deep down conviction that you're adopted, but in the absence of absolute proof, you still believe your with your biological parents. It doesn't mean its true. So is the search to become a Christian.
You might see some professing to be Christian, yet are not showing it in the way they live their life. This might be casting some doubts. If so, remember that a church is not a meeting hall for saints, but a hospital for sinners. We all fall short, but must ask for forgiveness and for guidance to stay on the path.
You are hearing the knocking at your heart's door, but you just haven't opened that door yet. You're asking "Who's there", trying to find who is knocking, but still a little timid about opening the door and allowing Him into your life. When you are totally ready, it will make sense, and you will open your heart's door.

Take an honest look at what you believe, and ask yourself if it fits the facts. Then take a look at Christianity - not what most people claim, but what the Bible actually says. See what makes more sense - that God created the universe, or that it created itself from nothingness.

You can, of course. But first you have to stop trying NOT to believe. Pray and ask God to open your eyes.
By the way, making sense of it comes after you accept Him, not before. That's why it's called faith.

God made people question. If he did not want people questioning him... half of us would not exist. We exist just to get others to question their own beliefs. We are here to help god test them... if in fact there is a god.
You could will it... if you were dumb enough to believe it.
The fact of the matter is this- you cannot see it, therefore, you cannot believe it. Until you can... there is no chance you will will something that disagrees with all you believe.

You can't "force" yourself to be a Christian...remember Jesus, and the son of the rich man. Jesus asked the man to "follow" him, and the man turned him down, and Jesus walked away. Thats one thing"wrong" with alot of modern "religions". Jesus offers, but if He is refused, he will wait until you are ready. He won't be banging on your door next week to tell you what a sinner you are and hand out more tracts. It's better to be a "Christian" but better to be true to yourself than to be a "false" one. If God wants you, he will"lead" you where you are to be, and when you are ready he will welcome you:)

Maybe you are not allowing yourself to accept it. You are not putting your whole heart into it and letting confusion prevail instead. This can often be a major road block. Don't give up. Let go, and let God!!

because you truly do not want to accept Jesus. that is the only way to be a Christian . if you looked honestly for Jesus you would find Him. if you come with your own agenda will never find Him. draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.

If free will doesn't exist you'd be Gods puppet by now obeying all His will without your consent.

'Cause you've been gifted with intelligence and know the difference between right and wrong without having a bible thumped over your head repeatedly since birth.
