I've read a lot of the answers here, and you say Mexicans should stay in their own country and make it better.
I'm in Mexico, and with no intentions of going to the U.S. to live. I work full time here, I have a baby, I'm an honest and good citizen with a normal life. I need to work to support my kid. I agree that the government is SO corrupt here, so what do you suggest we do to change it? Maybe we need a second revolution, but just like me, there are millions of good and honest citizens, that don't want to die trying to change an entire corrupt system (which wouldn't change anyway), we'd rather live than die knowing that nothing will change.
So besides a revolution, what do you suggest to the mexicans staying in Mexico, to do?
Note: I don't agree nor support illegal immigration, but I also don't agree nor support racism. I do support human rights.
Please reasonable, non hatred answers.

DAR: the voting system is pretty much the same as yours. We hope it's fair and don't cheat there also. Elections for the new Mexican president are coming really soon, on July 2nd. I hope the new president does something with this country. But like any other common politician, they promise and promise then don't do nothing.
Education is good here. We also have public and private education, both are good, of course you get the same problems with public, just as in the U.S. The problem with illegal immigrants, is that they actually don't go to school, because the majority of them are poor and don't have the resources to get good education.
Again, the Mexican goverment fault. I feel sorry for the illegals, and hate the government for it.

I do live in Mexico, in the North actually. I've been to D.F. for business many times and I hate it, I would never want to live there. I also hate being a working mom :(

OK first of all, to begin with do not, i repeat, do not listen to any of this people! Because the truth is that they have no experience in anything that they have previously wrote, seriously. They are just people wasting their time on their computer answering questions on Yahoo! They do not know how the rest of the world is and they just judge. Anyways, this is the wrong place to ask this kind of question. I know cause I have no experience, cause i've never been to Mexico. But seriously all of us are just bored, with nothing to do! What kind of person spends their time answering quetions on Yahoo if not a bored one. Or someone who has nothing to do? Don't take advise from bored people they are just looking for fun!

Well with all due respect if you and your people (those who live in your country) would rather live then die trying to change an entire corrupt system which you say wont change anyways, then what's the point? I mean seriously if you or your people wont get up and fight for yourselfs then NOTHING will get better! You taking the "wimpy" way out. Getting up and fighting for your rights is what we do and why things here are different. I'm sure if we let Bush go off and do Bush we'd have the same peoblems, but you have to start some place. Why not let it be the blood of today to help the future??

Maybe a second revolution is the only answer. I hope not. America as does Mexico, wants strong neighbors. Surely you can see the growing grass roots movements in America. And how Americans may be slow in gathering unity against illegal immigration, but our steps are steady and stable. You have to take it to the streets of your own country brother. The worst thing illegals did in America was to "take it to the streets". America doesn't not condone unlawful behavior and will NEVER allow any group no matter how loud to benefit from it.I wish i knew more about the Mexican political system. If it is anything like Americas then your first step is to use your American contacts to organize in Mexico.
BTW...way to go on your integrity. America knows that Mexico does not need a crutch to lean on, and will support a Mexicans in Mexico.

COLORTX- I'm glad Americans of your weak convictions weren't in the Revolutionary War and the Battle of San Jacinto. America got where it was by challenging armies that were at the top of their game. Farmers fought the British Army when it was strongest in the world and ranchers fought the Mexican Army when it was at its peak; when it rivalled the strength of European armies.
The biggest obstacle is the Mexican Attitude. I notice it all the time with my Mexican friends. The American attitude is that the world can be changed. With hard work and a little luck, the world can be made better. The mexican attitude is that the world is the way it is, and you can either accept that or be crushed by the truth. My buddy used to live in a shitty Border town that he hated. I invited him here and he didn't understand why i made a big deal when people played their music too loud or left their trash on the ground. I explained that in good neighborhoods people get involved to maintain and better their neighborhoods. They don't just shrug their shoulders and take it.

1)Set-up coalitions among your local neighborhood. A neighborhood watch so to speak, and a place to speak ideas. Make sure there's some sort mechanizism to make sure there's no exploitation or abuses of power.
2)Through this local neighbor coalition, focus on how to improve the community from within (not through the government). Maybe find locals to do childcare, or paint areas that look rough, or create businesses together to improve the overall atmosphere of the community, etc, etc.
3)Do not vote/support anyone that will concentrate power or is remotely corrupt. Focus primarily on your local candiates. If anything, try to neutralize power above.
4)If you guys can get a open court system and a more reviewable police force, you'll find your country changing overnight. Since your safety is important, I would start off by doing your own local chapter of neighborhood talk. If you can make it grow and be productive at it, influence other neighborhoods to participate and share their concerns. Use the internet to facilliate communication.
The main goal of this is to open communication up between yourself and community....and to do likewise with everyone else. It's the community and culture that must mutually accept some goals together to assure any sort of success.
That's the gist of it, but it can expand as intellectual far as you want it to.
Note: Make sure the organization key feature is non-violence, unless in self-defense.

I respect your position and admire your convictions. Unfortunately, a revolution might be in order. Many Americans have died to make this country what it is, and those individuals did not want to die either.
The bottom line is that you stand in choice. Get together and change your government through whatever means necessary or suffer the negative consequences. Think about future generations. I would give my life to ensure that my children are free and treated properly. If I were in Mexico, I would be a covert organizer of a revolution. You'd be surprised at the support you would get from U.S. citizens, even if our government wanted us to stay out of it.

thank you ! thank you ! thank you! that's what a lot of Americans want is for people to start saying hey you know what this shouldn't be all of Americas fault and mexico has a to do something for their people a lot more people would be sympathetic to their cause but all we hear is name calling and demanding it would have been a great start if those protesters would have protested mexico and marched the streets with American flags while telling mexico off that's they way it should have been going down , then asked for our help and support i think our government should send all the illegals back not to be mean but its time mexico took a hard look at its self and if we would quit pandering to them and cut them off maybe then they will see or not , but i for one do not want to pay for mexico's corruption and if doesn't stop now when will it? what about the poor in the future they will cry also and it just wont end its a catch 22 if we help them we help corruption and it wont end if we don't then its oh the poor people but maybe then mexico will see.

I think you and your countrymen need to stand up to your government and say, " You need to take care of us. The system here sucks and we don't like it." Protest in the streets of MEXICO. We have seen your ability to organize here in the U.S, why do you not do it in Mexico. I am sorry, maybe that is the answer you don't want, but you need to know that nothing good comes to those who are afraid to fight for what they believe in. Your "revolution" may come whether you want it or not, if the U.S ever stops being the way to siphon off Mexico's poor people. What will happen in your country when the U.S is not the answer? Many successful countries are the product of a revolution, the U.S included. You may not have to revolt, but you need to stand up and be heard by your govenrment!!

"Its so easy for us to say, "stand up for your rights" but it isn't America where we are able to do so. Those people don't live there and have not grown up there, they really don't have a clue.'"
HUH? What are you talking about? many ameriacns stood up for their rights when they were allowed not to by the law. Remember our forefathers? How about when MLK fought for civil rights?
Yeah I do have a clue, all because I wasn't born in Mexico doens't mean I don't know how corurpt they are.
May be another Mexican revolution needs to happen. I am not sure. but mexico's problems have to end. I think USA should help clean the place up, but I don't support illegals. Illegals ruin our economy and our a threat. If our borders are left unsecure, then who knows- an islamic terroist can cross though them and do some damage.
"Ignore the Racists then. Hard times are coming for America, the Christian right is becoming popular, with its brand of isolationist security, and America is quickly battening down the hatches. My Advice? fight for whatever change you can achieve in Mexico, you guys arent a bad country by far :) Even the smallest change can grow to big things."
riiiight. Its racist trying to protect our borders now? Isolation? Who said we needed to stop immigration? NO ONE.

I feel for you.
I have visited DF many times. I understand your plight.
I feel bad living in a country that says horrible things about Mexico. Even with all its problems, its a beautiful country and culture. The people for the most part are kind, gentle, humble and hard working
Its so easy for us to say, "stand up for your rights" but it isn't America where we are able to do so. Those people don't live there and have not grown up there, they really don't have a clue.
Please don't believe all Americans hate Mexicans and Mexico. If they do it is because of hate and ignorance. Were suppose to be so progressive, but we are really no better then third world countries when we oppress.

Why on earth should a question like that draw hatred answers?
Voting would be step 1. However, you have to let candidates know what you want. I would assume schools would be high on the list. Health coverage. Can you there put measures on the ballot to vote into law based on voter signatures? If so you could organize a signature drive to get measures like these on the ballot. I am not sure what the system is there, but that is what we do here.
We have upwards mobility for our children because of quality education for all. In fact my biggest point against illegal immigrants is that by their sheer numbers and our subsidizing their education, education is being degraded for our own children. I think pushing for education access and reform is the first step in what would most help your family in your lifetime.
---
Believe me I sympathize about politicians who don't follow through on promises.
If your system is like ours, I guess I would ask myself 'why are people leaving' and try to fix the problem. Here the poor go to school too, which is what I meant about upward mobility. However, I don't know enough about the situation there to say what specifically should be changed. Where does it hurt? Is there a law that could fix it? Could you collect signatures to get that law on the ballot?
Best of luck.
