In Luke 22:19, at the Last Supper, Jesus commissioned a priesthood with the sacrifice of His Body and Blood, saying to the disciples, "Do this in memory of me."
This new priesthood, that of Christ Himself, is the priesthood "according to the order of Melchisedek" (Ps 110; Heb 5:6; Heb 10).
This priesthood is superior to the Aaronic priesthood of the Old Covenant -- because the new priesthood performs the same sacrifice as that on Calvary, a once-for-all sacrifice that is perpetuated for all time in the Mass.
By the way, in a manner of speaking, we are all intercessors -- each and every time we honor someone's request to pray for them when they ask us.
So, if the Catholic priesthood violates the "one mediator" rule, then all of us violate it every time we ask someone to pray for us -- or every time we pray for someone else.

That's a really good question, sorry I don't have the answer. But I do believe in direct communication between me and God, I don't need no priest to talk with if I wanna have my time with God.

Taken from "My Catholic Faith:
The chief supernatural powers of the priest are: to change bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass (John 6 - unless you eat the Flesh of Man and drink of His Blood, you shall not have life everlasting in you), and to forgive sins in the sacrament of Penance...
There is great need of priests everywhere, for Christianity is impossible without priests....
There are good Catholic who know their religion, but cannot practice it properly and receive the sacraments as often as they would, because there is no priest to administer to them. Many are indifferent, or have joined false churches; they have not had sufficient instruction, for lack of priests.

well because in the olden days, bible days..it was said that you became a priest when god granted it and you have the approval from a church, this means..that a true priest has connection, one on one connection with god..so when you go and do your confessions to a priest he forgives your sins and god also forgives your sins, but i tend to pray by myself for his forgiveness but some people like to go to priests to make sure that god hears them..and no matter what way, or how we pray god will always hear our thoughts and prayers..with a priest or not.

The fact is as follow:
If there is a god, there could be no link between us and HIM. There is nothing more superstitious and pretentious than "owning" THE link or having THE better religion.
Anyway, ...

It's easier to pray by yourself and ask God for whatever. Just cut out the middle man who says that he will pray for you.

It's not true, it's a control mechanism imposed on the people by the church to ensure they adhere to church rules/doctrine.

If you need prayer, get on your knees, and pray.
God is so wonderful, you can pray to him yourself, and he will answer.
