There is PETA, the AIDS foundation, The Breast Cancer Foundation, VH1's Save the Music, The ONE Campaign, and so many other causes. But what causes are out there that you think the general public is ignoring, and why?

Sorry, I did not mean to ask this question twice.

WOW! I'm surprise at some of the causes that I never even thought about. It seems unfair to choose a best answer for this one. (I don't want to say that one cause is more important over the other) So, I'll let all of you decide.

A cause we can all help without donating any money- just changing our lifestyles around a bit...
GLOBAL WARMING
people are pretty oblivious to wat we are doing to our planet
And it would be so easy to help this cause if everyone chipped in

I'd like to see more emphasis on finding sustainable energy sources so we don't fight for petroleum any more. Maybe a National Don't Drive Your Car Day. How about something that increases awareness and acceptance of other people's beliefs? Maybe International Reality month. And have we completely given up on expecting political leaders to be honest with us? They lie on purpose, we expect them to lie, we analyze their lies with truth detectors to find out what they are really saying. I personally decided that one day per week- I chose Tuesdays- that I would always tell the absolute truth to anyone I talked to. Now I try to avoid people on Tuesdays because the truth is so tough to tell and even harder to hear. I would like to see an International Committee on the Proper Use of Real Information, but I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning and I am probably still dreaming. The good thing in your question is this: what do you really care about and what do other people really care about. Ask yourself those questions and you'll know what you want to do from one moment to the next.

Our society is too driven by consumerism and greed.

"Simple Living" as championed by Thoureau, Ghandi, religious groups like the Amish and Quakers and contemporary writers like Edward Abby of Arizona...

basically, if we slowed down and consumed less, life could be better for EVERYONE.. unfortunately, these kind of principles are a little to anarchistic and / or socailistic -so the wealthy "powers that be" would rather we live under the yoke of opression (vis a vis credit cards and debt loads in an increasingly futile attempt to achevie what they have marketed to us a being the keys to our hapiness)

I admire your fire, but PETA is B.S. The animals they "save" eventually most get frozen to death. It's a crime driven organization that trys to slow the progession of medical testing for the good of mankind. PETA also prohibits having pets! Feeling dumb for giving them money Pet Lovers!? The leader also is an overall c**t.

Preeclampsia. It is slowly getting more recognition though. It is one of the leading causes of maternal and infant illness and death. There still needs to be more research done and more awareness put out for others.

(I had preeclampsia with both my pregnancies, the first being severe.)

Homelessness in America. If we are a powerful and well on country, why do the rich continue to get richer, and the poor poorer?

Chils abuse is generally ignored because children, unlike adults, have no political voice and no vote.
