The detailed history and civilization described in the Book of Mormon does not correspond to anything found by archaeologists anywhere in the Americas. The Book of Mormon describes a civilization lasting for a thousand years, covering both North and South America, which was familiar with horses, elephants, cattle, sheep, wheat, barley, steel, wheeled vehicles, shipbuilding, sails, coins, and other elements of Old World culture. But no trace of any of these supposedly very common things has ever been found in the Americas of that period. Nor does the Book of Mormon mention many of the features of the civilizations which really did exist at that time in the Americas. The LDS church has spent millions of dollars over many years trying to prove through archaeological research that the Book of Mormon is an accurate historical record, but they have failed to produce any convincing pre-columbian archeological evidence supporting the Book of Mormon story. In addition, whereas the Book of Mormon presents the picture of a relatively homogeneous people, with a single language and communication between distant parts of the Americas, the pre-columbian history of the Americas shows the opposite: widely disparate racial types (almost entirely east Asian - definitely not Semitic, as proven by recent DNA studies), and many unrelated native languages, none of which are even remotely related to Hebrew or Egyptian.

The mormon church, or Church of Later Day Saints, is a "branch" off of Christianity. What I mean by that is that mormon's started with Christianity, and added a bunch of their own beliefs. The Mormon church is not Christian, as they have some very different beliefs. Some of these beliefs include the idea that God started as a human, and that we can become gods as well. They believe that Jesus is not God, as Christianity teaches. They also believe that the Trinity is three separate gods, not three persons in one God as Christainity teaches. Over all, mormons say they are Christian, but they are not. And I think that any reliegion that claims to be another while distorting it's views is wrong.

I think that everyone who doesn't think the mormon religion to be true doesn't know enough about it.

I quote the Matrix "No one can be told what the Matrix is, you have to see it for yourself."

Mormonism and the testimony of it must be experianced personally. Read the Book of Mormon intently, prayerfully, and completely. Listen to our prophet Gorden B. Hinkley speak the word of God, here an actual modern day prophet speak, then I promise that the Holy Ghost will testify to you that it is true.

Like many religions, particularly of Abrahamic history, I find that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints preaches many things I find to be ethically, morally, and socially repugnant.

Their philosophies are interesting, but logically inconsistent. Their methodoligies are flawed. Their practices are questionable at best. The way they treat each other is curious, and the way they treat outsiders ranges from ignorant to inconsiderate to rude to xenophobic.

Personally, I don't like them. I can't help but feel that it was the teachings of this wayward church that created the disciples who robbed me of safety and happiness in my early life. I would someday like to be able to say that I am without prejudice or bias, but as of today, I'm afraid there are some dark corners of my heart that are filled with hatred for Mormons in general.

It's a sect as all religions. Some "force" you to pay, others do it more politely, others manipulate you, but at the end, what counts is what is in your heart... so.... you'd better free yourself from mormons and most others.

I knew a mormon girl. She met a Christian guy. In order to marry her, he was forced to convert himself. This is SOOOO silly!! So you see what I think of the mormon religion?

I was a Mormon for 2 years I THINK IT'S A CULT; THEY BRAIN WASH PEOPLE INTO THINKING THE BOOK OF PEARL IS AN EXTENSION OF THE BIBLE; PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK HERE. YOU WILL FINE IN THE LAST PAGE OF YOUR BIBLE, REVELATION 22: 18 SAYING: "NOTHING WILL BE ADD OR TAKEN FROM THIS BOOK".
THEY ALSO USE THE BIBLE TO LURE PEOPLE INTO JOINING THEIR CHURCH; BUT THEY DO NOT BASED THEIR TEACHING ON
THE BIBLE.
JOSEPH SMITH IS THEIR GOD and JESUS; IF YOU GO To a MORMON TEMPLE ,YOU WILL SEE JOSEPH SMITH PICTURE EVERY WHERE.
MY BROTHER IS A MORMON; HE CHOOSES TO FOLLOW A FALSE RELIGION, NOT OUT IGNORANCE BUT BRAIN WASHING.
THEY DO NOT MAKE FRIENDS WITH PEOPLE OUTSIDE THIER OWN; THEY MIGHT SAY HI TO YOU; BUT DO NOT EXPECT ANYMORE FROM THEM; THEY THINK, THEIR RELIGION IS THE ONLY TRUE RELIGION; IF YOU
ARE NOT A MORMON, YOU ARE
A SECOND CLASS CITIZEN; in other words "DiSCRIMINATION"
BEEN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It cannot possibly be true.

Truth does not change.

If it were true, there would be a ratio of 1 man to '4' women born into the world.

The Bible states there should be one woman for each man, and that is seen in the birth ratio of males to females.

They believe they can become Gods of their own planet. So by that belief, there is no ONE True God.

Their belief system means there can be an infinite number of Gods, all of them, having been at one time, human. They graduate from this planet - to go on to becoming Gods of their own planet.

When I hear Mormon, these are my thoughts:

Utah, Joseph Smith, Moroni, Naboo or Navoo (did I spell that wrong), temples, bees, polygamy, Safeway, and men on bikes or with backpacks. I also think of the Book of Mormon.

This is a old old question, but still many misunderstood the LDS faith, and make false claims.

I invite any wish to know the truth to attend our church meetings,
before you make any judgement of our faith.
You can always disagree, or reject our doctrine, but please do not make false statements.
Ask " us " what we believe, not from someone who do not believe.
Go to LDS official site or something.
One time someone said he studied LDS for three years and try to tell me , (a 30 years LDS member) what I believe, what ignorance.
To answer the question, I believe LDS has the true doctrine,
and those who follow its teachings will be a better and nicer
person. It does not force anyone to believe, if any do not want LDS, just say "No". I'm sure our missionaries have better use of their time than to harrass anyone.
