Like things, that are needed for someone to have self-confidence and go through life competently. And also could you tell me, what specifically they didn't have?

Me! I never had a parents who cared! I had my grandparents raise me so my mom could work to support us, and my dad left and never tried to contact us at all!
Altho now that I'm married and about to have a baby he is trying to get back in contact with me!
So i was at a disadvantage! I'm married now, but have problems showing love to my husband, love was never an open thing in my house, tough love was! So i struggle with my husband because we were raised to differently!
But my husband helps me too much! He takes time to understand how i feel and what i need! So really everything even tho i would consider a lot of my life a hell hole, turned out pretty good!

Yes, of course. Wouldn't just about every addict, abuser, homeless person, bully, etc. fit into that category? There are fewer people who did have everything they needed to grow into competent, self-sufficient and emotionally stable adults.

Yes I knew someone just like that. They didn't have any guidance, support, understanding from their parents. They were just expected to go through life knowing what was right and wrong, yet not expected to do anything wrong. Everyone just felt like they knew this person would never do anything wrong.

I myself didn't have those things. I still struggle with that daily.I don't fit in and often feel like I try to hard. I was abused by my father for 9 years and it has made my life crazy.......But I do know God has a plan for me ...I'm married and I do find it hard to show my husband affection...i pray daily....

hmmm. I know lots of people who needed better parenting. A few people I knew who committed suicide were in desperate need of love and affection from their parents. I grew up with a very loving family so I guess I am considered one of the lucky ones
