grease them and bake them at 300 degrees for an hour, do that 2-3 times then when you wash them just use hot water, for stuck on food use salt like sand paper. the more you use them the more nonstick they become.

cast iron skillets need to be seasoned .... use peanut oil inside the pan and "bake " the pan for 2 hours @ 450 degrees. . after the smoke clears, you have a cast iron pan for life

Traditionally, you are not supposed to use soap and water to clean them, only hot water. To treat them, you apply a coating of lard on the surface and bake them for about 30 minutes at a very high temp. Probably about 500 degrees. That is called seasoning.

wash it real good, if it has rust make sure to scrub this out. rub down with crisco or other product of the type and season in a warm 200 degrees max for about an hour

You heat them up on the cooker then rub fat into the surface letting it burn in then wipe it off with a paper towel. Do not wash in soapy water
