I heard crunches and curl ups do the job.

Crunches and lateral curls for a start, but you'll want to focus more on lateral and oblique exercises for the "six-pack" look. Look into Pilates; it's a pretty good system for total core fitness, including the muscles in your back which balance out the strength of your abs (if you only work on your "mirror muscles," you'll experience more lower back pain because your abs will overpower your low back) Be sure to work on aerobic conditioning as well, to burn off fat -- a lot of people actually have decent abs, but it doesn't matter how many crunches you do if you have a solid two inches of fat hiding everything.

if you have a decline bench at the gym, hold a weight plate to your chest and do regular sit ups. do crunches, but make sure you contract your abs during each one, and do sets of 25.
