That happened to a co- worker, she was shocked because she cleans the water bowl twice a day.It turned her younger cat had worms. See if you find some more, and save them in a jar You should call the vet, they probably know what they are called.. Maybe your cat or cats picked something from outside. I hope everything goes well.. Miss Molly

If you wash their dish every week, are you giving them fresh water every day? Cleaning once a week is good, but they should have fresh water and food daily. You should have your vet check the cat out for worms and throw the dish away because even if you use hot soapy water it doesn't necessarily get rid of the parasite. If your cats have worms you need to give them a de-wormer medication immediately. You can buy de-worming medicine at most pet stores and other places like Wal-mart. Only use medication specifically for cats, and if you have older cats or kittens you may want to get a specific type for them. However, a medication directly from your vet is advised because sometimes the ones you get at a store aren't safe for your pets. Good luck!

Well, either it's coming from the kitty or there are larvae being hatched in the water that can now be IN the kitty. Either way, you need to clean the bowl much more regularly -- kitty needs FRESH water every day -- and kitty needs to be checked for worms ASAP.

I think those are those worms or something that cats have I guess--whatever they're called. You should throw away that one because I'm not sure it'll be safe just to clean it and then let them drink out of it. It might be from the cats since they're outdoor cats and bring them to the vet.

I have 4 cats and a dog and never had that problem. I suggest you clean the bowl in the morning and at night and have your kitties checked.

If you keep seeing them you need to take your cats to a vet or see if it is something in the water

Get kitty a new water dish. The old one has something nasty in it. And take kitty to the vet and let him give kitty a checkup.
