There's nothing you can do outside of saying "I'm sorry". It's okay, it's happened to me three times at work even and you just get over it. Things happen, and I know that it happened to me, because I don't look the door at home so I'm not used to looking the door. Look, I lived, it's ok!

Apologize and leave just as quickly as you arrived. Then, I would simply never bring up the incident. It was their fault for not locking the door.

Pardon me, I'm so sorry. Also next time knock and wait for an answer. I know though that people don't always answer, but at then you could say "At least I knocked. But maybe you didn't hear me. I'm so sorry"

that has happened to me b4 and i was real embarrassed also one time i was going to the bathroom and i thought my twin was next to me so i pulled on her skirt and it wasn't her so i ran out

i would apologize then leave but also i would feel bad for walkin in on them but i would consider that its his/her fault.
