The French quote I prefer is "Je me presse de rire de tout, de peur d'être obligé d'en pleurer." (Beaumarchais) meaning "I try to laugh of everything before being obliged to cry for it".
Another one "Je préfère fermer ma gueule et passer pour un con plutôt que de l'ouvrir et ne laisser aucun doute à ce sujet" meaning "I prefer to shut up and let people think I'm a fool rather than opening it and let not doubt on the subject".

You can fin a lot a quotes in french, just type in google "citations" or "proverbes".
