Home-made is definitely best, and perfect at this time of year with good quality tomatoes so fresh right now.
Here's what I do:
~ Chop about 6-8 large tomatoes, flesh only (keep the juice and seeds for soup or pasta sauce).
~ Stir in a generous dash of lime juice, 3-4 crushed garlic cloves, a dash of salt and pepper, about a 1/8 tsp ground cumin, 3 Tbsp chopped fresh cilentro/coriander, and 1/2 a sweet onion finely diced (or 2-3 green onions, finely chopped).
~ Let sit in the fridge for at least an hour to allow the flavours to develop.
~ Serve with tortilla chips, or top on burgers.

We like store bought Pace picante for general salsa use. I love Newman's Own Peach salsa as well for something different. Mix the peach salsa up with a rectangle of softened cream cheese and a tlb of mayo and use it for dip...yum :)

Western Family which is a brand from Save on Foods (I think they are only in Canada?)
My sister bought it once and now it is the only salsa I will buy.

I use two cans of diced tomatoes, 12-15 chili arbol, 4 or 5 fresh chili habaneros, garlic powder, salt and whole mexican oregano to taste. Blend well in blender and serve w/tortilla chips.
Can also make with boiled jalapenos instead of chili arbol.

Love Salsa Verde that you get from the Mexican rest. and San Felipe rest. salsa. It's always much better than the canned.

i like on the Border tortilla chips. Flautas are super dipped in guacamole. Tortilla rollups are stable for dipping too, yet i actual choose corn based tortillas over flour with quac.
