I mean, he was the SON of GOD, right? and he was here to spread HIS message of Love and all that right?
well, if i was trying to get people to follow my lead, i'd write something down on paper to pass out and to spread the word. ESPECIALLY if the word i was spreading was the word of the Lord...
I don't know, it just doesn't make sense to me that only 4 people wrote about the life of Jesus, and then only after he was dead.
There has to be more we haven't heard, and i'm willing to bet that Jesus DID write SOMETHING down....ANYTHING...
cause i mean, MY Jesus is literate.
And i'm not atheist or anything so don't take the wusses way out and say i should go to hell or i'm an idiot cause i'm not. How would you prove me wrong? you can't. You can't use the bible to authenticate the bible, so don't. I don't use Harry Potter to try to prove the existence of wizards do i?

and don't give me the "he didn't have a pen or paper" argument because its stupid.
Its a stupid argument.
the greeks and romans wrote things down didn't they?
the mayans and aztecs and incas wrote things down, didn't they?
And if he knew how to read, SOMEBODY had to write what he read with SOMETHING on SOMETHING, right?
Its a stupid argument. don't be stupid.
And don't tell me he was too busy performing miracles and healing the sick and all that, or he didn't have time. ok why not? what happened in the 18 missing years of his life? he wasn't a white castle, open 24/7...
don't be an idiot.
Oh and don't give me crap from the King James version of the bible, because everybody nows that the reason it's KING JAMES' bible, is because he didn't agree with some things the Catholic church adheres to and...wait, no, you know what? don't use the bible in general, since OBVIOUSLY it doesn't say anything in the bible about Jesus' writngs.....THATS THE POINT OF THE QUESTION. Don't be dumb.

That made me laugh! It's true. Well, probably He did and someone burned it all.
I think He knew it would be worse if His words got mucked around with. Better to let the others words get mistranslated and retold wrong.

Great point!
Personally, I believe that Jesus was lazy. In 33 years, what did he do? Give a few talks, wander around Palestine, fast, attend synagogue ...
His dad must have been real frustrated - Old Joe Carpenter, I mean. Darn punk kid hanging out with fishermen who don't fish, revolutionary rabble rousers, retired prostitutes ... what kind of example is that for his brothers?
Seriously, while it is probable that Jesus Ben Josef (if he existed as such) was literate and read his Torah, reciting his memorized verses at his Mitzvah, he may not have been a very facile writer, as such. He would not have had much time to practice it. And even if he were, most of his audience would not have been.
Education was rare. Books were rare. The synagogue's copy of the Torah was hand-copied and held sacred, and only some folks got to actually read it.
Then again, even the materials for writing would have been hard to get. Paper was hard to come by. Ink had to be made. Pens were hand-made.
And there wouldn't have been any Little Giant Book Club that could publish his story, even if he did write it ... it would have been a one-off, then copied and mutated in every copy.
And the fact that what he was teaching got him crucified might have something to do with the delay in publishing his philosophy.
Yeah, Jesus may have been literate, but be may not have written well. He may not have chosen the written word as the correct media to transmit his rather populist message. And he may have had more important things to do at the time.

there were many people that wrote about jesus but their books were banned or burned because the later church did not like what was said.( censorship) see the gospels of Judas, and mary and phillip and thomas etc etc.
also, it was common for wise men to not commit their thoughts to writing. Lao Tsu was guilty of the same thing. he finally wrote a few words at the end, or so it is said( tao te ching) Buddha never wrote it down either. Socrates was an orator, not an author. writing and readin were rare accomplishments in the old days. they barely had paper and no xeroxes.
the type of message they were giving was meant to be in person in words. it is not in book form because it is so short. basically each person has to go within and meditate to find their own truth and it cannot be written in a book. Jesus never agreed with or trusted the words of the bible. he studied them, sure, all jews did that, but he found them lacking and tried to spread his word by mouth, not in books. most people could not READ then so it would have been a total waste of his time to write it down. Nobody who needed to learn it would get the message. He wanted to walk and talk and spread the word and teach others how to do the same thing. sort of like AMWAY. It is a guru system he learned in INDIA, when he was traveling as a youth.

I'm not so sure Jesus didn't write anything. He did write something on the ground during the episode of the woman taken in adultery.
On the other hand, I'm sure He was kept pretty busy, healing the sick, calming storms, raising the dead, traveling and teaching to have spent much time writing. He knew His time would be limited. If all He had done was write a book, Who would have read it? That might be why He chose other people to write about Him.

The answer to your question is simple. Jesus was and is the living Word.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The Christian Bible and all information about Jesus was written down at least a generation after Jesus is said to have lived.

Why didn't He just tell everyone He was God?! Oh wait He did in the court system, and the religious leaders had Him killed. Okay God can do what He wants, if He wants to use people to write it then He can, and He did! Isn't it amazing though how the OT and NT were kept safe all these years? Ya know it manage to be kept alive all these years, that's God for ya smile

The only record we have of Jesus writing something down is when he wrote on the ground with his finger after he asked those who were without sin to cast the first stone at the woman taken in adultery. In one movie version of this event the thing he was writing down was the sins of the men who stood to accuse her.
Jesus never baptized either. I think it was to avoid the claim that only this particular writing, or this particular baptism was the only true writing or baptism. His work was to direct others in doing the work.

While I personally do not believe that Jesus did not write an autobiography, I do believe that Jesus is the Word of God and that before the foundations of the world, the Bible was in Heaven waiting to be revealed to "holy men of old" to write it down in our earthly languages.
