Is this not quite literally the oldest trick in the book?

Why is it that you have to question others beliefs?

We live in a society that denys God upon every side.
TV portrays Christians as chicken-eating, wine-guzzling, gay-kissing, bed-hopping fools.
I cringe at the deception and lies.
One thing, though:
Even Jesus Christ had a Judas Iscariot.
Meaning: Out of 12 people, one of them has 'issues'.
The '1' cannot speak for the '11', nor does the '1' make truth void or a lie.

People who claim to not believe in God look down on those who do, because the non-believers imagine that they are "thinking for themselves" when they place no reliance on God--man is self-reliant (man is God) and is the "decider" of his existence (abortion--man decides who lives or dies) or his destiny (only one place to go, when you leave God out of the picture).
Non-believers must then make up their own set of rules, which, in the end, don't work--see the troubles in society, when God's will and laws are ignored!
As usual, the cause of faulty thinking (so-called free-thinking) is excessive pride, which underlies every sin.
The truly ignorant (not necessarily stupid--two different conditions) are those who do not know God and the gifts that can flow from Him...

Well to be ignorant mean to be un-informed...I think you should have specified your question because to which God are you refering to, I personally think that if you mean that you think only 1 religion is right then yes...You are ignorant...because you only view one thing without actually looking at something else with an open mind...I am an Ordained Minister and I have researched many other religions and cultures and I have found that these's people have faith equal to or greater then most of the christians I know...but they just have faith in something else.

Matters of faith are hard for some to grasp, since it is not based on logic or science. Many are merely so wrapped up in themselves that they refuse to acknowledge the beliefs of others, and it is easier to condemn than to try to learn. This is fashionable among political liberals in many areas. I was talking to one a while back about an issue, and I invited him to consider a couple of possibilities. He refused on the grounds that he didn't want to have any doubts about his position! Open-minded? I don't think so...

Because some of those people refuse to listen to scientific evidence. Look at the "creationists" as an example.

I think it's best to have a belief system AND understand how science works.

because somehow people avoid seeing the truth things as they are, the fear they had inside, the problem and the disatisfactions they facing and ignore it in name God.
and some who believe in heaven, mostly ignorance to earth, the land we're living .. focusing for future life rather than present life ..
by believing in God totally, they also ignorance to what human has contributed in matter of science ...
there are wars, we create a peace agreement and establish united nations...
there are nature destructions, humans participated in green peace ..
there are many socialist, humanist who contributed in humanity..
there are diseases, science doctors make the cures...
and etc ..

I think it is a stereotype based on many whom claim to believe in god "parrot" their beliefs on what they are told and not from their own "research" in to the bible.
That and the fact that most fundamentalist are based in the South and seem to be the most visible.

Because you avoid science. Someone who doesn't believe what is proven isn't exactly a genius. If I told you grass was green but a book told you it was purple you believe the book.

You're kidding, right?

Many Christians on this very site have called atheists stupid/ignorant/foolish for not believing in God.

You wouldn't understand, you're one of "them".
The oldest trick in the book though....not really, I think that one speaks for itself.
