I can totally understand why you want to dye your hair. I was a blonde, but decided to go for something alittle more sultry and sexy... lets just say I dont get these sort of jokes anymore (...I remember them all though!), plus, guys approach me in a different way..

You need to tell your mum that at the end of the day - it is your hair, and - if it really does look that bad when you get it done, you can always let is grow out - or gradually re-dye it back.

You only live once and life is short, so dont spend so much time worrying about what other people think you shouldn't be doing (even if they are your mum!)

It depends how old are you?If you are over 15 then Id say you have the right to express yourself. Thats all it is I wish parents would see it as just that and not some disaster waiting to happen. Tell her that nothing can possibly go wrong and ask her what she thinks could go wrong. Any fears and you can put them to rest one by one as you explain to her you mature and responsible attitude and how youve done a strand test (do one as you wont know if youre allergic otherwise and that would be bad!).
Ask her what else is bothering her about it. Is it ANYTHING other than safety? Youre over 15 I really think you have a right to do what you want to your hair and live with the consequences. It's not your mum after all who will have to walk around with it if you don't like it is it? Point that out to her in a big way.
If she dosent like the sound of black it it dosnet give her the right to tell you what looks good on you as if it were the only thing or the gospel truth.
Go for it girl!! Ask her if she thinks you could ONLY look good with blonde hair and tell her you see that as pretty insulting and that it upsets you that she wants to control you like that.
I'd suggest saving up and going to a hair salon simply because it will look odd growing out if it's black and you might want to have a very gentle colour (still black but kind to hair) that is MUCH better quality than the ones in bottles, that way you can have it removed without it ruining your hair. Your mum might be happier with it too if she thought you could remove it if you didnt like it. Its probably that she wants to protect you from dissapointment. Colour from bottles ruins your hair if you try and take it out. Good luck!!!

I cannot stress it often enough..going black is a bad idea because it is very difficult to get the color out if you do not like it.
Black hair color contains multiple pigments to get its color. When decolorizing is done the black lifts ut into the pigments that are used to make the color like green and orange. Heres the catch...these tones often get stuck in the hair and will not let go. The only way to get rid of them is to color them a darker shade in order to tone them out.
IN other words, getting you back to blonde is not an easy thing to do and it is unlikely that it will happen. Also, decolorizing is very expensive. ( I charge $150 and up to do it.)
If you do color it black and hate it, it will probably be a long time before you are blonde again. In fact it will be until the color grows out and hair only grows about 1/2 inch a month average. Please think carefully about this. You may regret it.

Stay blonde. You probably do not have the skin tone for black hair and it would drown you out. I was naturally blonde and dyed my hair continually when I was in HS. Now I would love my blonde hair back but my hair has grown in nearly brown. I hate it!!

Please, please please dont dye your hair black, i would love to have my blonde hair back but when i dyed my hair black i still cant get it back to blonde and ive been trying for 2 years nearly, ive wrecked my hair it's brittle and snaps off all the time. If its your first time dying your hair i would listn to your mum when she says no. I wish i would of listened to my mum when i first dyed my hair and i wouldnt be in the ness in in now. I would kill to have my blonde hair back. Plus it might seem like a good idea at the time put when its actually on your hair and you wake up in the morning you might regret it. But its up to you hun.

dont dye ur hair black! stay the way you are, unless ur going for a punk, rock/gothic look
**eventually, ur roots will be blonde and look really bad and embarassing, if u still wanna be dark, try a darker shade of brown, that will look black

BLACK IS SOOOO HARD TO LIFT OUT OF YOUR HAIR AND IF YOUR A BLOND YOUR ROOTS ARE GOING TO LOOK TERRIBLE WHEN THEY GROW IN. THERE IS NO EASY WAY TO TURN BACK AFTER YOU DO IT, YOU RUIN YOUR HAIR IN THE LONG RUN.

get some temporary hair dye and tell her it will come off when it does show her then buy PERMANENT and dye it. she'll never know.
