I just recently turned 21, and if you were like me and haven't had any alcohol before that, then the taste might be a little overpowering for you in a mixed drink. Beer isn't that great either. Try a Smirnoff twisted, it's almost like drinking a soda, and then you can work your way up through the night.
Otherwise, I would suggest a Malibu Sunrise. It's basically fruit juice with coconut rum. not too strong, but better than starting with a Jack and coke.
Whatever you do, take it slow, and don't go crazy. Getting sick isn't fun, and if you have to get yourself home, it's best that you can actually walk yourself to a cab.
Happy Birthday and be responsible.

Hmmm... my first ever drink was a Bud Light, then a lemon drop shot. Lol. I was about 17, but I hated it at the time. Now it's not so bad. Margaritas are really good. Mike's Hard Berry is good. Of course, I'm into chick drinks: fuzzy navels, sex on the beach, hurricanes, etc. Virgin drinks are non-alcoholic, and you can order them pretty much at any age. The amount of alcohol it takes to get drunk varies per person. Typically if you haven't drank a lot before, it won't take as much as someone who's built a tolerance. If you don't want to get drunk, but don't want to make it obvious, take it slow. Drink water between every few drinks and just take your time with them. If you want to get drunk, just don't go overboard. My cousin almost died on his 21st birthday from alcohol poisoning. I wouldn't suggest 21 shots because of that. Just be responsible and designate a driver. Happy early birthday!

Alcohol brings out the worst in most people. It leaves you with a hangover, and it's an expensive, damaging habit. You would be better off never to drink alcoholic beverages. Trust me, I know. But if you decide to drink anyway, make sure you drink slow, and have water or soda, or mixer inbetween and always drink on a full stomache.

Champagne to celebrate! (even though it's not that great when you first start drinking)
For something light, try a Cranberry/Vodka. I suggest asking for Gray goose or smirnoff vodka. A "top shelf" liquor always tastes better and will give you less of a headache.
A long island would be good, but they can be made badly.
For beer, try Heineken Light. I usually hate beer, but I like this one.
Happy RESPONSIBLE drinking!

Try several, but limit it to one drink (1 oz of ethanol) per hour and you will not get too drunk. If you like sweet drinks, I would start with:
1. White or black Russian. (coffee liqueur and vodka, creme in the white one)
2. Pina Colada (coco nutty)
3. Chambord and 7 (raspberry liqueur and 7-up)
Don't get drunk unless you are safe. The payback the next day is really not worth it.

Kick it off with a nice JagerBomb.... Not the mixed together kind, its gotta be the shot glass dropped in the glass of red bull. Hella good and it will give u a nice boost of energy for the rest of the night.

are you trying to get hammered? if so red death, jamacian coyboy, jagerbomb drinks (not the shot), sex on the beach, orange vodka and sprite, lethal weapons, and most mixed drinks are good for that. if not then beer or screwdrivers or even fuzzy navels are tasty but won't mess you up too bad. be careful and have fun. if some one offers you a cement mixer don't do it. baileys and lime juice......kinda like lemon juice and milk it curdles.

I'll tell you this because I learned it the hard way. Don't mix. If you start with Vodka based drinks don't go switching to Rum or Gin,or Whiskey or whatever else. There are plenty of mixes with any 1 of those bases.

depends on if you want to try hard liquor or not. if you want hard liquor go with something German or butter shots(that's actually the name of it it taste just like the butterscotch candy) and make sure you have something salty with it. if not go for wine coolers. get your favorite fruit flavor if they got it. oh and make sure your party is at home with the drinks. that way you don't have to worry about getting home and if it's just you and a bunch of your girlfriends you can have a sleep over and then no one has to worry about getting home and everyone can have a drink or 2.
