I do real estate loans and am working just about 24/7, hiring a babysitter doesn't always cut it.

Well sometimes you simply don't have time for a life until they are older. Children do consume most of your "free" time when you aren't working. Its hard enough juggling a career with children let alone having a social life. If you can't rely on babysitters and family members for breaks, then try doing some entertaining at home or at a friend's house who have children around the same age.

When my children were younger a girlfriend and I would often do this. We'd take turns having card parties or friends over where they could also bring their children. We'd designate an area for the kids and provide entertainment for them. That way the adults have "some" time for themselves.

It's not the ideal situation where you'd just like to go out on a date or to a quiet movie, but when you have no other choice it's better than having no adult life at all. Cheer up, it will get easier as they get older.

I'm a single mom. I raised my kids alone and it was difficult but well worth the effort and sacrifice. I put my life on hold for 20 years.... no man, no dating ... nothing. It's just the way it was and had to be in my case. I'm not saying that you have to do that to be a good dad. However, you may have to cut back on the hours you work to have some time for your family. THAT is your most important job.

Slow down! You probably have a fairly laid out schedule with your kids and your ex. Why don't you work when the kids are with their mom? Can you work at home once the kids go to sleep? That's what I do with my 6 year old - put him to bed by 8:00 and then that gives me about 2-3 hours uninterrupted before I have to start going to bed.... BTW-we don't live to work, but work to live. Enjoy your kids while you have them-they grow up so fast and $$ isn't that important

why dont hiring a sitter cut it? wheres the mom? if nothing else, have a small get together at your house and send the kids to grandmas or something? you really didnt get into detail enough because theres obviously some extended family members that the kids can go stay with for a night or whatever...

Grand parents are a big help. Friends sometimes help.
