My boyfriend and I are having trouble finding places to go during the weekend and evenings with our daughter who is 4 months old. We want to go out with her, but she's so small, we don't know where to go. Any suggestions?
We're in Austin, TX.

She's still colicky and its hard to go places with her because she gets restless and cries if you're not holding her constantly. It's not that I don't want to take her anywhere... I want to! It's just hard to find an appropriate place where people won't look at you and think "what horrible parents"

You know, if you have family living close by...go visit them with the baby every weekend. You are right, it is hard to find things to do with an infant. My daughter is a toddler, and it's still hard sometimes to go places with her. But anyways, visit the family/friends before the novelty of having a baby wears off.TRUST ME

Hello young mother and child. May I make a suggestion that you visit the following website:
http://austin.about.com/od/thingstodooutdoors/
Because it lists a number of family-oriented places in and around Austin that you might be interested in. Not all are of interest to a young child, but some are. Read through them and see if anything looks good to you.

o.k. I don;t know what you mean by go with a 4 mnths old.
but , as my kids were born, they went everywhere with us
not drinking or concerts,but everywhere.
it pays off in the long run because they now know
how to behave in company. restaurants-parks-camping
swimming-friends pool party;s,hiking,
were can you not bring a four month old ,I mean really
be prepared, give her napps,do all you do at home.
I don;t see a big deal here.
if you love her, bring her with you.....
it;s a little extra work, but why leave her behind.
I still take my kids everywhere,me and my wife go,
that;s what family is all about, you exist for your kids....

You could always go to one of those fitness classes with your baby where you do exercises like lift your baby above your head and they teach you different techniques to help your baby stay calm and relaxed. I think they look fun.
