I'd like to buy USDA Prime beef in Connecticut. My contact at a wholesale provision company passed away so now I'm stuck with choice beef (eck).

My problem is... places such as Arnolds Meats in E. Longmeadow, MA. carry only choice. Any wholesale operations I've contacted sell prime only to finer restaurants and hotels. I need a place to buy prime as an unincorporated cunsumer.

I think Omaha Beef is still in business.Way over priced though.Why not contact a local farmer and contract out a feeder calf (its the feed that makes it prime(good fat))

You could trying to find a local meet market. Or if one is near by. I always buy my meat when I go back home. I usually do not like the beef in the grocery stores where I live. Where I grew up was better.

Ask a distributor, like Sysco or Gordon Food Service. They all use wholesalers, with all grades of beef. They can tell you who they use there in CT

I have not noticed the diference between the two myself but believe that Prime is suppose to be the best.
