it depends. how far apart is he drinking them and is he drinking them purposely to get drunk. this is a tricky situation. on a normal day people should not have anymore than 2 drinks. but we all know there are situations when that just isn't how it is. like maybe its hot out and your working outside, i know as a woman i can then in that situation over a course of 5 hours have 3 or 4 beers.the problem is if hes doing it to get drunk then its a problem and if that's the case pretty soon 12 wont be enough,it will turn into 18,then 24, then before you know it theres a serious health problem.

If he has to have them, probably. If it's not an issue when he doesn't have any beer at night, maybe not. Check out Al-Anon it's a support group for the family and loved ones of alcoholics.

Twelve beers in an evening puts him over the "legal" definition of intoxicated. If he's intoxicated every night, he's probably not handling the rest of his responsibilities. But that's my opinion. Check out this AA list of questions to see if it sounds familiar:

Also, you might want to look for an al-anon meeting near you for yourself. They're usually listed in the newspaper. Alcoholism effects the whole family. It even makes the family members pose this type of question.

Good luck!

Yes, an alcoholic is someone that consumes 2 drinks or more on a daily basis.

Is he young? It is a "normal" drinking binge especially if he is in college. If he is getting past that college drinking - partying age then he could become an alcoholic if he keeps it up!

An alcoholic? Not really. A slob? yes.

I'd say that's a pretty serious drinking habit there.
If he does it every night, he's well on his way to becoming an alcoholic.

Depends on his mood when he's taking it, wht he's drinking it for and what habits surround it. If you're asking then you're obviously worried that he is, so there is a good chance he is well on his way to having a problem.
