Well.. when I first started reading scripture I would refer to the NKJV but then once I was out of jail I started reading the NIV version. But now I find my self reading different versions because the words they use in the different versions are nice to read. Lately I have been reading the NIV and NKJV. I would really like to learn Hebrew and Greek to get the full spectrum of scripture..

The New Jerusalem Bible.. Most accurate translation.
I have attended 3 Major Universities while obtaining my Masters in Theology . At all three..Christian related course's required the NJB.
The KJV has many errors in translation,,
One of my professors once said that the common man that thinks he can use the KJV Bible and A concordance to understand the true meanings of the text is like a worm trying to burrow a hole in concrete.

New American Standard. Its Catholic so it has all the books of the Bible. It isn't missing the 7 chapters like the NKJV of the KJV that others removed from the Bible when they left the Catholic Church.

I like the NKJV and the NIV.
The KJV is NOT the only correct Bible out there. Do a little research on King James and what He was up to. He was hoping he could divorce his wife and have the scripture to back it up.

I also really like "The Message"

Although I used the NIV (New International Version) at Stetson University, as I've gotten older I've found the best translation to be the KJV (King James Version), followed very closely by the NKJV (New King James Version) for its closeness to the meaning of the original Hebrew and Greek.

I prefer the KJV but I think the NKJV is pretty good too. The reason is that I rather the first translation because i believe it is the nearer to the original text than the newer versions.

I like the KJV, the NKJV, and the NIV. I really don't rate one over the other, the message stays the same and only some of the words have been changed to make it easier to read.
Jesus loves you.

I study with about 5 major translations. The NIV is the one I most often use. It is as simple as can be, and accurate enough for serious study. But I use them all. NIV, KJV, NKJV, NASB, HCSB, and the paraphrase NLT.
BTW to correct someone- the catholic bible is the New American-not the New American Standard.

The KJV is one of my favourites. But then again the translators of the KJV did say that they were not inspired and would be glad if anyone updated the Version, so I also believe that the ESV (English Standard Version) I think that is a great version. But I do prefer the KJV.

I have four different bibles I study from. I like the KJV the best.
I have a KJV with study helps.
The NIV, American Standard, and a prophecy bible also have study helps, but my favorite is still the KJV.
