Is it best to be proud of someone because what they;'re doing makes them happy and puts them in a predicament to take care of a future family or to be proud but not enthused because u dont/didnt wanna see them go and do what they have to do?

I believe you should be proud of this person because they are putting the sake of others before themselves. I understand it is hard to part with someone you love or to let them do what they were meant to do...BUt remember that it if it is meant to be and it is God's will, all will be well in the end. Just do as this person is doing; put your feelings behind you and support this person, even though it is not what you prefer. You should be proud of this person and proud of yourself for supporting this person through whatever ordeal they are about to face. MayMay
PS-Is this person going to Iraq with the armed forces? If so, may God bless him/her. If not, the same thing too!

I think it all depends on all the facts. It sounds like somebody is leaving because they are going towards what makes them happy but you don't want to go. If they are happy and your friend you should be happy for them...I don't know if proud is a good word..unless it is a child.

If they had to do it and it made them happy it is sometimes worth some sacrifices on both parties. In their mind I am sure that they know it might create some burdens on those left behind but they have a inner pull that tells them they need to do it. Alot of support goes along way in any situation

As far as taking care of a family thats their job, it comes with the turf.
You don't want to take care of a family,don't start one.
