Hun my advice to you is to sell it sound crazy well listen to this:

My father owned a 96 intrepid bought it new 5 years ago it started doing the same exact thing to him he changed the whole charging system over time and thought he had it fixed. A year later the damn thing would start actually wigging out you could drive it a month maybe more and when you shut if off it wouldn't start jump it right nooo it would not start till it was ready to start sometimes it would take a month or more before it started again. He took it in to a mechanic and the said it was the brain they replaced it still done it. Over that year he replaced almost everything under the hood minus the motor every time he took it into the mechanic it was another thing that it "might" be. Finally he took it to the dodge dealership they told him that the intrepids were bad about that and even they couldn't fix it. In total he spent almost $12,000 on that car. When he sold they told him that he was one of the lucky ones a lot of people was selling them because they would die driving down the road. I personally think Dodge needs to recall the intrepids.
And just for the record my father was head mechanic for the chrystler corporation for 15yrs. he decided to quit when they went to the computer modeled cars instead of going through training to learn how to work on the computerized cars.
I would sell it while it still runs.

A bad battery will make the alternator go bad and a bad alternator will make the battery go bad. If you aren't getting 13.6 volts with the thing running, then something is wrong. If everything else (starter moter, wires and cables, ignition swich) is good, you would do best to replace these two items together.
Have you checked the water in the battery? Hold a flashlight up to it (many battery cases are translucent) or remove the covers to check that the water in each 'cell' is over the 'plates'.

Either your battery cables are loose, or your battery is dead/near dead and won't hold a charge and needs to be replaced. After you jump start the car, it can run off the alternator which supplies power for the car to run and recharge the battery.

I have the same car and the same problem.. I LOVE THAT ENGINE.. anyway make sure your battery ground is tightly connected. Try using a spray ternimal cleaner. If you play iwht the negative on ur battery ur hood light should come back on then you know that the battery is connected right. But a 3.5 is a good car if you take care of it.

Well you either have a short in the battery or you need a new alternator because my car did that and the old owners jumped it so much and didnt worry about the alternator we had to get one just to drive it. so i would take it to o'reillys or carquest or something and they can come outside with their machine and tell you whether or not your battery and or alternator are generating any power

get car started, take off positive cable from battery( its the red one) if car dies out replace alternator. if not clean terminals recharge battery then add purified water after charging, no need to buy new battery unless it wont hold a charge

appears like an electric powered short. in case you comprehend what you're doing open up the guidance column and seek for burnt wires. If no longer take it to the save. electric powered isn't something to easily bounce into. (you could also't in any respect get the column back jointly.)

I would suggest it is either your starter...(does it try to start?) or a solenoid or relay. does all the other electrical work?? (that would eliminate the battery or alternator.) but my best suggestion is the starter or solenoid.
