Mexicans always talk about pride, but it's a very strange type. Mexicans want to fight if you bump into them in a bar, but their whole country goes down the toilet and they just shrug their shoulders and say nothing can be done. Real machismo would be to fight to improve their country, not just give up on it and skulk away.

FLYGUY- I have been to Mexico and sen how they do nothign to improve their own lives. The US is used as a pressure wavlave to shuttle away their least skilled and least educated workers. It's almost as bad as the Mareil boatlift, when Castro shipped his criminals and crazies to Florida, except for this invasion never ends.

Bravery is fighting for your country. As we can see from the flags they fly and the language they refuse to learn, they still consider Mexico their country.

ANGELA R- My point was pretty clear, Mexicans are flooding into this country like there is some sort of natural disaster in theirs. They do almost nothing to fight off the oppressive corrupt regime and then they come over here and say "Viva la Mexico". Mexico is in shambles, be brave and fix it.

Also Angela, you are typing fluently in English, which is something that is the right thing to do. The groundskeeper at my apartment speaks pidgin English, just enough to get by. His son speaks no English at all because he doesn't feel that is necessary. Mexican immigrants did not used to be that lazy. English literacy is actually going down as Mexican immigrants come here and try to turn their neighborhood into Mexico.

ANGELA R- I am not surprised that you speak English fluently. As I said that is what immigrants used to aspire to. The first generation would have passable English and the second would be fluent. That is great. The problem is that that trend is reversing itself. Mexican immigrants now do not pursue learning English, knowing that they can just live in their part of town and never learne English. Both social services and cops all have to elarn Spanish to deal with them.

WANDERING STAR- That kind of weak, self-pitying attitude is why Mexico is in such trouble. We had to fight a war of Independence against the greatest military force in the world at the time (The British Army and Navy). Mexico's army is pathetic. Even worse, your culture is full of corruption and not just at the top, At all levels. The US is not your daddy. if mexico continues tof lood into the US you will bring us down to your level. And then wehere will you go?

I think many mexicans realize their home country has problems, they just don't know what to do about it, and fleeing the scene to the United States is the 'easy out' answer.

They're supposed to be having an election in Mexico, hopefully it will yield some positive results. But, if it doesn't, ultimately it will be up to the american voter to make themselves widely heard on the issue in the spirit of giving Mexico a helping hand by limiting their escape options. It's kind of like with a kid that doesn't want to do their homework, you gotta box em in 'til they finally knuckle under and take care of it...

You know its statements like these that really don't advance your cause. I am a conservative, second generation, Mexican American woman.

I am getting really tired of all the bashing and generalizing about Mexican people. Why don't you get a clue and step outside your own small world. The pride Mexicans take is in their culture, and whats wrong with that? If you were American Italian wouldn't you be proud too? Somehow that is OK.

What is the point of your question anyway? Can you make an intelligent, coherent question? Or is bashing a group of people because of there race or country the only intelligence your capable of?

Whats your point? Since you obviously have never lived in a third world oppressive country, what do you possibly know, except judge people?

Richard why are surprised that i can type and speak fluently? How can that be? A literate Mexican? You show your ignorance in assuming that ALL Mexicans only speak Spanish and are illiterate. Mexican citizens are very oppressed by a tyrannical government. Since you don't live there it is so easy to say just stand up for your rights, it isn't America! Why does any country oppress there citizens? If they resisted they would be KILLED. Its not that cut and dry.

Well, I would have to agree with you on the second part there, but it doesn't really match the first part of your question. For the first part of it, I would have to say; H E L L yes!! Only they would be running over the border at top speed and not worrying about whether or not they got caught as they ran carrying everything they own on their backs. As for the second part, It is hard to change such corruption without a serious civil war. Since the government has all the guns, it would be a bloody one too. I'm not saying it can't be done since history has proven it so many times, I just don't know if I want to be next door to such a battle. Good question!!

Cant find it in myself to hate on a people who simply want to improve their lot in life by coming to this country....We were founded on the loosest open door policy in history and now we are shutting that down>>!> It is simply an extension of the global economy....used to be, we could afford to allow these people in because there were jobs aplenty - now, with everything outsourced, the jobs that these folks take are the same ones us pre-existing americans want....Sad

Honey, you have no idea! Someone in the US may be so arrogant to believe that all Mexicans are here in the US, but Mexico is HUGE and while alot of the men are here, there is no shortage of even MEN there in Mexico.

You know, tell me what can we do to get rid of corruptions and bad politicians, please tell me. I work for a living, I work to support my kid (by the way, I'm a woman)...I'm a good citizen, I don't do illegal things. What else can I do to better my country? If we go against the government, we would lose. Maybe we need another revolution, but who wants to die when you have other reasons to live for? (for example, my baby). I'm just trying to survive, working hard, being a good and honest citizen, staying in my country and with no intentions to go to the U.S.

What else can I do???

Yes, they would stay and make enchiladas over the fire for awhile, but eventually they will make their way here.. We should just annex Mexico and then maybe they will jump ship to Canada next and everything will be back to normal.....

Have you ever been to Mexico? Have you ever seen the crap holes they live in? If you lived in the same conditions you would do the same thing.
