At that age, it's tough. When my son was about that age, he was down to plain rice, mac & cheese, plain hot dogs, and juice. We finally laid down the law, and said he would be presented other foods, and there was a 2-bite minimum, like it or not. There were some things he abhored due to texture: mashed potatoes and sausage come to mind, so I didn't push on those things on him.
Furthermore, if all she is served is pizza and chicken nuggets, that is all she'll eat. She can't make her own food! So give her things like baked turkey, green beans, brocooli florets, corn on the cob w/ little handles on it to make it fun, fresh strawberries or other fruits..... quit doing pizza! Most kids prefer simpler foods w/o sauces adn gravies, as opposed to saucy casseroles and combination foods (beef stew over noodles, for example).
A lot of this may be your falut (sorry). It's easier to nuke some Bagel Bites than to perpare a healthy meal. Do you eat the way she does, fast foods, avoiding veggies? If so, you BOTH need to change your ways. If you are eating a variety, then the battle is half won. Just quit serving her bad stuff all the time. Now and then is OK, though (twice a week, maybe?) Dont' forget salads w/ Ranch to "dip" the leaves into, baked chicken tenders, roast beef, turkey, or ham rolled up into little rolls (fun to eat), fresh fruits where possible....
BTW: For most kids, I'd recommend a Flintstones Complete tablet daily. Get a scrip for Fluoride supplements form your pediatrician or dentist if you dont 'live in an area w/ fluoridated water. She's still forming those adult teeth she will have forever.

I feed my picky eaters lots of pasta and rice.
We eat pizza a lot -- either delivery, frozen, Bagel Bites, or we make our own individual pizzas.
They will eat meatloaf and I hide tiny tiny tiny bits of carrots in it (I use the smallest part of my cheese grater). You can't see them or taste them. I've done this with different casseroles as well. My husband still doesn't know that I do that!
I keep offering everything to my kids in hopes that someday they will give in. If they don't eat, I won't make them something different. They get hungry and will eventually eat something I offer them. I think it is a control thing as much as a pickiness thing...if kids have the chance to help plan the meal and help make part of it, they MIGHT eat better.

Well get creative w/ the Pizza. Make a Veggie Pizza. You can also teach your child how to cook things that are simple and good fro them to eat. There is so much that you can do with chicken. first of all you need to teach your child trough examples. (don't eat junk food your self.) Also, let your family, friends, and any one who takes care of her not to send candy or junk food to her. Get ride of all the bad food in the house and supply it with good whole foods. If your child won't eat what you have in the house, tell them that this is all they have to eat. When the child gets hungry enough they will eat whats around. You are the adult and you are the one buying the food not the child. you are to blame for this and you need to fix it!

Like you said she's 5. You are the adult. But if you want to make what she does eat healthier. Bake the chicken, bake the french fries, put vegetables on the pizza. There are some recipes on kraftfoods.com and foodnetwork.com that have recipes that give creative ideas for foods kids will eat.

My 9 month previous is on an truly set time table and that i think that it helps to make him actually the excitement that he's in the present day. He wakes at 7:30 interior the morning each and every morning. in user-friendly terms with the aid of fact we've a collection bedtime of 7:30pm and he does not wake interior the direction of the night. I feed him his breakfast at 7:40 5, this is composed of fruit and cereal and a sippy cup and is then observed by making use of a bottle at 9:30am... His time table is often good on, and can be swayed interior of a window of five-10 minutes yet under no circumstances extra advantageous than that. each and every baby is distinctive.. yet i think as though the time table we are all on advantages my family contributors very much! in case you stray too some distance off he gets visibly cranky! Thats what makes me comprehend the time table works. i do no longer think of there's a "good" time for food. yet i could propose sticking to a pair variety of time table... yet do what advantages your baby and what you experience is sturdy.

My daughter 8 years old sounds much like yours!! It seems her variety of foods she's willing to eat gets smaller every day. She doesn't even like things like mac and cheese or mashed potatoes. I found ways to get "good for her foods in" like spagettios camouflages finely chopped cooked carrots well...I make chicken and rice, which is the only way I can get her to eat rice, I give her yogurt with fun mix ins...find ways to get the nutritious food in to her diet... I have also found that she is more willing to try foods she helped to cook. Having a picky eater makes things tough...but where there is a will there is a way. Good luck.

Ask your daughter what she would like to eat, besides the fast food and junk. You have to make a stand, and it would make things easier on you if you got some input from her.
But dont let her get away with it. Bad eating habits are picked up during childhood. Later on when she's more conscious of her self image she will thank you for getting her off the junk.

My daughter doesn't like corn very much but loves corn on the cob. She also will eat broccoli IF she can have ranch dressing with it. Be happy that she likes chicken and pizza it could be alot worse.

Simply don't feed them all that junk all the time...they'll refuse to eat, then don't feed them. They'll eat whatever once their good and hungry. This is an easy fix if you're willing to stay strong and not back down. They aren't going to starve to death...
