You might lose weight, but you will not be getting the nutrition you need. You will be missing out on your proteins and other essential nutrients. You might also be hungry alot or mess up your bowels (ie diarrhea or constipation). Talk to a dietitian or a doctor. Maybe they can help you set up a fruit and veggie diet with some dietary supplements.

Patricia Yes! Fruits and veggies alone are not the best for you. Fruits and veggies are one part of a good eating plan. I say eating because "diet" implies dying. Notice the first three letters of the word diet are D.I.E. Studies show that only 2% of all dieters ever succeed. The trick here is to eat a lot of the right foods so you are not hungry. Here is the plan I use: 1. Eat small fist sized meals 5 to 6 times a day every 2 hours. 2. Eat lean proteins (eggs, lean red meat, poultry, fish) along with complex carbs ( fruits, salads, raw veggies, steamed veggies, nuts, baked potatoes, beans, yogurt, brown rice etc). The meals should be a combination of the two. Not one or the other. A recent study by the Journal of nutrition showed that both in combination was the best approach. Some meal ideas would be eggs with whole grain bread for breakfast, chicken breast in a salad for lunch, broiled lean red beef with bean soup. Turkey breast and a baked potato. You get the idea. Mix and match the proteins and carbohydrates to your liking so you enjoy your meals. 3. Use pure dairy whey, L-arginine, L-glutamine, and the BCAA's branched chain amino acids. See the recipe below. The amino acids work well for weight loss. Here are the benefits to this approach. One-you are eating a lot so you are not hungry. Also your body sees abundance so it does not go into starvation mode. Two-Lean proteins and carbs in combo keep your metabolism into gear. So you are burning calories even while you sleep. Three- Eating this way maintains a balance between your sugars (glucose) and insulin--A key ingredient in weight loss. I hope this is helpful

I think more fruits and veggies are good, but I've also heard that we need a certain amount of fats and carbs. Just not supposed to overdo it. I don't think all your dietary needs can be met on fruit and veggies alone. A variety is better as far as which ones to eat. For salads, the darker (like romaine) lettuce is good for you, whereas the iceberg has no nutritional value. The darker lettuce has vitamins and stuff in it that's better for you. You should eat all of the different colors of both fruits and veggies. They all offer different nutrients.

I love fruits & veggies and could live w/o meat, but it is really
important to get enough protein in your diet. I eat a lot of
cottage cheese & yogurt etc, but sometimes think I am
not getting all of the nutrients that I need.
Green leafy veggies are important, yellow and orange too.
Just get a good varity, and good luck.

You probably won;t be losing weight but gaining weight. You should try a balance diet with 50% carbs which is friuts and vetetable diet and 50% protein. With out the protein, you will be hungry within an hour and you will eat more and be hungry in an hour.

you've got to be really careful with this one. stay on it for no more than a week. it will "clean" you out thouroughly. make sure you eat some beans for protein and i would still eat a yogurt a day to replace some of the good baterias that your body's going to lose. You need those to function properly.

This is not good. You must limit the number of fruits you eat, fructose is sugar. What about protein and dairy?
