I am going to decorate my daughters room. I would like to paint a basic girl color and make butterflies to hang in the corners and along the walls. I am thinking a little larger than a frozen pizza. Any easy and inexpensive ideas? Something simple as I am not that crafty! :)

HI, Good ideas, butterflies are pretty non age related and she can keep it in there along time. I was the Craft coordinator at Micheals Art & Crafts store and made butterflies several different ways. You can purchase a kit from Wal Mart ,Micheals, Hobby Lobby - relatively cheap and easy to make with good directions. Another way is using foam, comes in many colors and you can make the size you want, also you can use stencils or draw your own and do it, or you can take colored knee his and a coat hanger and make the wings, use a large craft stick to make body, and use gems, beads, glitter to decorate it. Any of these work it would just depend the amount of time and money you want to put into it.

You have gotten some great ideas for the supplies to use. Here is a way to draw a Butterfly and depending the age of your little girl she can help. Draw and oval in the middle of the outside of the oval draw to hearts evenly on each side, (the points of the hearts touching the outside of the oval) at the top spaced evenly draw 2 curved lines for the antenna. Now you have Butterfly template. Have fun!!!!

use the foam like sheets of almost any color available in the craft aisle at the store. Cut out the shape use other colors to decorate. Then use stove pipe cleaners and puffy soft balls all located in the same aisle or if large craft store just ask. to make antenna's

Go to Target. I got some butterflies for a dollar. If you don't like the color you can just repaint them. I got some for my daughters room there.

Or you can also get them in wood or foam at any craft store like Michaels or in the craft section at Wal-Mart.

Hope it helps.

Use wire coat hangers and panty hose.

Open a wire coat hanger by uncoiling around the hook part. Use wire cutters to clip off the ends that are hard to traighten.Use one straight section at one end for the body. Curve to one side to make wings and curve around to other side to make other wing. Cover with pice of stocking or pantyhose leg.....If one hanger length is not enough...Use one for the body and one wing, attch another hanger by bending and wrapping around the body section for use as the other wing. Shape as desired. You can use fishing line to tie the nylon closed (this should be the back side that will not show.) Spray paint bright colors. Use pipe cleaners for antenna and sequins or beads as decorations on wings. Attach sequins and/or beads with dots of hot glue. I even used sray on glitter on mine. You can make them s large or small as you like.
