Because by the end of the day you might have run out of time and then won't do it. I do not think there is any evidence though that working out in the morning will burn more calories then in the evening.

It helps a lot of people to get energized and then you also kick start you body enabling it to burn more calories. Also if you do it in the morning, no excuse for being too tired.
