This depends on several factors: who its with, physical/verbal, consequences of trying to win, etc... I hate fist fights; while punching someone certainly makes you feel better for the time being, it doesn't solve the problem then nor in the future when the potential assault charges start rolling in from the little wimp that lost.
Metaphorically, I don't back down from a fight/struggle unless there is no other way. In which case, I usually enter a state of despair.

A good fight with a fish is always worth the effort. It is the reason to go fishing in the first place. That is why it is a sport.
If you want to fight with humans try boxing or some other pugilistic activity.

I guess it depends on who u r fighting with.........at work? if the customer is right, yes I will back down, if the customer is wrong (cause believe me who ever came up with the slogan "The customer is always right" must have been a customer at the time, cause it ain't the case anymore) I will not back down.
If with the kids, don't want them to think that even if I am wrong I am going to prove my point just to be right, and with the husband....he already knows I am always right so there is really no need to fight with him...............I guess it depends on the situation........if you are right..stand your ground.....if you are wrong....it takes a bigger person to admit to being wrong that one to try to prove he/she is right..............and if this is a fist fight.....always make sure they throw the first punch, then kick some A$$, cause you dont wanna get busted for assult...always let them throw the first punch!

I had to back down from a 115 lb Blue Fin Tuna once and let my Son take over,,,,He's younger and stronger than me,,,LOL,,,,and I have back problems,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,But if your not talking about fishing,,,I never started a fight,,,and I never loss one,,,,Only fight as a last resort, but if you have to,,do it with authority,,,and remember one thing,,,in a street fight,,,there is no such thing as fighting fair.

I use to not but now that I am in school and keeping my grades up and stuff I try to stay out of trouble. I use to go around looking for fights. SInce it is my last year in school, I dont want to regret it.

Depend on what am I fighting for.
If its just small thing that got blown up, I normally just let it go.
However if it involves protecting the safety of others, I would step it to the plate and swing away~

Generally I only fight when I have to.... if diplomacy fails, then oh **ll yes... its on. But thats because I know how to fight.
