There seems to be a growing population to suggest that adults throwing a party is okay. They buy and serve people under 21 alcohol. Their reasoning is "They are going to drink alcohol anyways, so it might as well be in my presence." Are adults so naive to believe this is actually okay? If so, it explains the way kids are growing up in this country.

Being a new parent I see that there will come many days where I'll have to be Dad, rather than a best friend.
Most don't know how to seperate the two roles. I think they are trying to allow their children to have an experience they did not have, as if they are doing them a favor. IT'S NOT A FAVOR, IT'S BAD JUDGEMENT & CHARACTER.

Because parents want to be "cool" anymore.

But, coolness is not by letting their kids and friends drink.

I mean, back when we all were younger (of course, I'm showing my age with this), the children IDOLIZED Mike and Carol Brady...they were SOOOO cool!

So, why not try to model some positive parental role models for a change?

Or, how about the 7th Heaven father, Eric Camden? Religious or not, the character demonstrates a cool father figure.

The whole problem is that these baby boomers didn't grow up, and are SO into the "it's all about me" culture...that they don't care about their elders, OR their youth.

It's so scary!

If you're an adult that allows this...HOW DARE YOU!!! GROW UP you idiot, before someone calls DHS and TAKES your kids...but...hey...then you'd finally have that break you keep whining about...huh?

You got to tell us what state, did this happen tonight? ;) (It's late) Ok, from a criminal stand point, if they cops were called and you were arrested, that would probably be a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of no more than $1,000 per occurrence (for each child) so $13,000 or you could be sentenced to prison for less than one year - except with the jail time the 13 occurrences may be served consecutively depending on New York law. If one of those kids gets in a wreck on the way home, you could be liable in a civil suit for damages. I wouldn't recommend ever doing this again.

I think you need to loosen up. So what if ADULTS under 21 are drinking? In most countries, they serve alcohol to adults 18 or 19 years of age and those are the countries who has the lowest crime rates. Maybe your country should take a page out of them.

But, you do have to think that most other countries don't have a 21 year old drinking age-- in fact, many don't have one at all. Often, other cultures embrace alcohol as a fact of life, not a rite of passage (ie-- go get drunk on your 21st birthday). Teens may have wine or beer with dinner right along with their parents. And, these countries don't have higher rates of alcoholism or drunk driving etc, probably because they educate about alcohol, rather than legislate around it.

And, don't you think it's weird that you can buy a gun at 18, and also go to war or be drafted, but you can't have a glass of wine????

Some adults acts worse than the kids. Have you not noticed this? There is such a great need not to age in America. So they just want to be hip and how can they truly think this helps the kids?

These adults don't care about whether people are under 21 or over 21. They do it because they themselves are over 21 and that it shouldn't be a problem. They sometimes might forget that there are some people underage.

Yes, I find that surprising too. I guess they just don't want their kids to do it elsewhere and get in an accident. Well, a ton of people go to "supervised" parties and still drive home drunk. I don't get it. It's like parents don't care and they're giving in. Parents who do that aren't doing their job and are trying to be "friends". They're just hurting their own kids and other people's kids too.

Perhaps you are too young to remember when the drinking age was 18... That said, it's wrong, it's breaking the law and it's just plain stupid.
