Every society needs guidelines. The Ten Commandments are probably the best guide of any of the rules that I can think of. An even higher moral system is the two comandments of Jesus: Love God and love your neighbor. If you do those two things, you don't have to worry about the Ten Commandments. However, I find a lot of people who yell and scream about the Ten Commandments don't actually take them seriously. For instance, you can't believe in "Thou shalt not kill" and prosecute war or promote capital punishment. Consumerism in American capitalism is built on coveting your neighbors goodies and keeping up with the Joneses. How many Christians really honor the sabbath (or in Christianity's case Sunday for Sunday is the Christian Sabbath.)

they do. first commandment implies you are supposed to worship the God of the bible and nobody elses. thats not freedom at all. there are a few other things like the graven images one that christians break all the time anyways by worshipping thier bibles and wearing crosses around thier necks. I notice the do not kill law is constantly being played with by christians who intend to kill someone. I ask them about serial killers and they give me some BS answer about semantics like it says do not murder, thats not what it says at all, and it makes me question the ethics of the person that said it to imply that they intend to off someone whether it be *murder* or *kill*
I beleive that the honor thy father and mother has been abused because there are many parents out there that dont know how to love their kids, and in certain bible passages it says to kill your kid if they are bad.
christians like to say God wrote the bible because it gives them a nice Power Stick to wield around. there are even christians in courts of law that say jesus saved me even though the person is a serial killer or rapist. I understand plenty. christianity is morally ethically and SPIRITUALLY wrong and if there is one thing i cannot stand its arrogance and ignorance put together.
seperation of church and state is a total joke. who made churches tax exempt? the government and the lobbyists. It whould take someone just as zelous as Bush (but democrat) to right the wrongs that have been done to this country. the Europeans that came to america were escaping religious persecution only to bring it here and make things worse. its a shame people could learn a lot from what the Puritains and the fanatical catholics did.

How could they violate US law?
Is there a US law forbidding worship on the Sabbath?
is there a US law forbidding worshipping God at all?
Is there a US law forbidding the honoring of our mother and our father?
Is there a US law forbidding the prohibition of killing, stealing, adultery, bearing false witness, or covetousness?
Sounds to me like you are advocating the denial of people's religous rights. Sounds to me like you want religious expression and practice to be criminalized.
If so, there are some other countries in the world where you might feel more at home -- like North Korea.

God is not forcing u to do anything. He is just saying that if u want him 2 be part of your life, & if u want 2 be with him in the next life, then u do what he wants. Its your choice. But u cannot expect 2 do whatever u want & then expect him 2 be there for u. Obviously if u do not believe in christianity it makes no sense arguing the point.

agreed. but beliefs and laws are different things. for one thing the beliefs cannot completely control the make of the laws in the united states. religion cannot be fused with government, as this is a secular country. if you look at religion from a secular point of view, there will be a lot of disagreement.

Some interesting reasoning there, but some might feel the question should be posed the other way round...
If we're thinking in human terms, which most of us do, it's impossible to keep most of the commandments - that's part of the reason why God wants to have a relationship with us: so we can rely on his help. This enables us to see them in the form of promises: "If you rely on me, then you will.../won't..."

son, you are history deficient-a natural by-product of public school in America. At least you question-that gives me hope for you. Now follow through and go find out for yourself. If you dig it out instead of letting someone brainwash you, you will know-not just have a poor opinion. Go-for it.

Separation of Church and State was drawn up for this particular reason. The government has nothing to do with church and the church has nothing to do with governmnet. As for our laws, they are ethically correct and is based on common sense of right and wrong.

Well, I'd say go live in a country that only allows the muslim, or Buddism or paganism religion, and see if you like that better.
