Immediately call the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in your area and visit the web site. I am raising money for this organization and they are training me - not only training for the half-marathon I will run, but teaching me all about their tremendous organization! There are many many resources there for you, including personal counselors.
One of the many thing I have learned is the childhood leukemia (and there are a number of kinds) is not a death sentence, or necessarily a long bout of chemotherapy. The cure rate is over 90% now, as opposed to 5% when I was a child.
Use the medicine that is available to you, and I wish you the very very best outcome!

First of all, don't borrow trouble until you know for sure.
If it does turn out that your son does have leukemia, it's important to remember that new medical advances to treat it are being developed all the time. It is no longer a death sentence. You will have a long road to travel, but studies have shown that a positive mental attitude is just as important as any traditional medicine. It will be up to you to keep your son's spirits up.
Finally, go online and do a Google or Yahoo search for "childhood leukemia treatments" and start educating yourself. Education is the best insurance that your son will receive the best treatment. The more you know, the more you can be an active participant in his care rather than a "nervous mom."
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

First of all, don't freak out in front of your kid! The worst thing to do is scare him! Try to be calm in front of him. You also shouldn't freak out. It's a terrible thing but it doesn't mean your son is going to die. I don't know the exact perccentage of child leukemia survivors now but im pretty sure its up around 80% maybe higher. I can't tell you much more since I haven't gone through it, but i know there are support groups. Look around and hopefully you can find some. Good luck! and I hope everything works out alright :D

I am so sorry. I have no idea how I would deal. I don't have any kids. I guess I'd cry, then hold him, then cry some more. Just pray, and look for a support group. Surely the hospital will have some info on a group. Keep your hopes up!

That's terrible, I,m so sorry for you and your son,Proud Mommy, hopefully it was an error and he doesn't have it.
For me(and this is just me), first I would fall apart(in private, not in front of him), then I would compose myself and be strong for him. Research the heck out of it and be informed about what we may face. And be as positive as possible, negativity won't help anyone.
He will be okay Proud Mommy because he has you to love him and see him through it. I wish you and your son all the good luck and hope in the world.

You stay as strong as you can. Cry whenever you need to but try not to do it in fornt of your son. If you think your son can understand then you should explain to him what it is. You need to have friends around you. Some to talk about the problem but remember to talk to people about other things. Your life will be taken overmore-or-less by this if it comes back positive but you still need to talk about "normal" things with someone to keep you sane.

The only thing I can tell you is to PRAY! Come closer to GOD, and pray everything in the name of Jesus Christ. I know it's a lot easier said then done. I will say a prayer for your child & family.

All you can do is pray, and remember God always answers our prayers...just not always the answer we want to hear. I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers, and will light a candle for all of you when I go to Mass this weekend.
May God bless and keep you always!
