Well, I'm sure you know that the Bible is read for pretty much all of the mass except for the prayers, the homily and the eucharist, so I'd advise you to ignore those who say the Church is not bible-based. We are read more from the bible than most of them. But, also, they generally don't consider Methodism to be Bible-based either, so I guess that you'll be used to hearing that. : ) That's one of the big misconceptions I'd like everyone to know about. Honestly, try going to RCIA, or if you have a Catholic friend, ask to go to mass with them. S/he can explain the parts of the mass that are different from the Methodist services, but honestly, in some respects it's very different, but in others, it will be very similar. I'd also recommed Catholicism for Dummies. I'm Catholic and I own it. It's much more readable than the Catechism and covers all of the bases in pretty good detail. I also have a book called "Introduction to Mary" which explains in very readable language, how to say the Rosary and exactly what the Church believes about the Mother of God. (We do not worship her or think that she is as important as Jesus. We just think that she can be a source of strength and inspiration because she was a wonderful and holy woman.) If you have any specific questions, feel free to post them on here. As long as you are able to ignore the angry fundamentalists who really do not understand our faith, you'll be fine and get many excellent answers. The Catholic community here is an excellent source of answers.

There are some promising things on the horizon but not at this time any cure or new treatments. Have you tried the cold low level laser therapy? It is a pain in the butt isn't it? I have lymphedema too, I'm owner of Lymphland support group. I keep up to date on anything and everything related to lymphedema. They are studying node implants, trying to take nodes from one area like the groin to put in the arm area (axilla) but we don't know results. I always thought that we should clone nodes and implant them! If you'd like to keep abreast of lymph technology out there, feel free to join my group, we have chats bimonthly.
