I've only seen a few in heavyweight. Is this just because the top heavyweights are more reluctant to fight southpaws?

Good question. It could be that some are avoided because of reluctancies but if the southpaw is good enough he will eventually get the big fights just out of an inflated record if nothing else. I know Chris Byrd was avoided for a while. He is probably the best known heavyweight southpaw still fighting. Cuba makes all their fighters learn to box southpaw for Olympics and I have seen some American boxers go back and fourth from southpaw to regular stance but I personally think that there is just not as many "natural" southpaws in the elite status in the heavier divisions.
