Perry's Pear - Is it Cider or not?

Question

After extensive research for Pear Cider - I was recommended Perry's Pear - I have since been informed that it is not real Cider - I disagree. What do you think????

Pear cider is traditionally known as Perry. I think it has been mixed with apples for some ciders - hence the adverts for "All Pear" ciders for commercial brands like Bulmers. But I agree, I think it's also because it went out of fashion for a while and not many people knew what Perry was. If you drink traditional ciders from less commercial brewers it's still called Perry, eg. at beer festivals you'll get any number of Perrys.

CIder is made from apples and Perry is made from Pear. Same sort of thing but different fruit.

Perry's pear may be made via the same process as cider but it isn't. Cider is apples, that is the way it is, i am unsure why but it is.

A good pear is the Blackney Red,produces a strong dry perry
