I'm an infedel, but I was wondering if it was expected out of us or not.

Yes, I am a Christian, but I'm also into being respectful of other's religion. A surprising number of us are.

Thank you for asking,
Although it is not compulsory for a non-Muslim to say peace be upon him after the name of any of the Prophets, it is extremely polite and is like a very short prayer for that prophet.
In no way does it go against your religion or is it offensive to say it, so I would like to hear it from a christian especially because they have faith and believe in God.

Muslims are commanded to send 'Salat' (peace be upon him) on the Prophet Muhammad whenever they mention his name, or hear his name mentioned. The command to do so is in the Qur'an, chapter 33, verse 56:

"Allah sends His Salat (Graces, Honours, Blessings, Mercy) on the Prophet [Muhammad] and also His angels (ask Allah to bless him). O you who believe! Send your salat on him [Muhammad] and you should greet him with the Islamic way of greeting (i.e. Asalamu alaykum)"

Muslims also give salutations on the mentioning of any of the Prophets of Allah. As you can see from the above verse it is commanded for the Muslims to send salutations, but there is nothing stating that a non-Muslim should give salutations, but is seen as respectful if you do so.

When a Muslim sends salutations on the Prophets of Allah, they say: "Alayhi salam" which means 'peace be upon him'. And when they send salutations on the Prophet Muhammad they say "Sall'Allahu alayhi wasalam" which means 'peace and blessings of Allah be upon him'

PBUH (Peace be upon him) is used by muslims for their prophet, since religion islam respects other religions and their prophets, muslims use (PBUH) for other prophets as well.

It stands for Peace Be Unto Him and it is protocol for Muslims to add after mentioning his name. Incidentally, it is also added by Muslims after mentioning Jesus's name.

Nah! It's just a way for holier-than-thou types to identify themselves to the rest of us. If you start doing it, some people will start thinking you are an Islamist.

It wouldn't ever hurt. It is respectful. I have also heard it is short for "peace and blessings upon him"
