The best solution I've ever found is 'wind sprints'. Find a location where you have 100 yards or so to work with. Mark off lines at 20 yards, 40 yards, 60 yards, 80 yards, and 100 yards. The object here is to push yourself beyond normal limits, while having short, attainable goals.

Starting at the 'start line', sprint to the first mark (20 yards) and back again as fast as you can. Rest 5 or 10 seconds. Sprint to the second mark (40 yard) and back as fast as possible - again resting 5 or 10 seconds afterward. Continue until the 100 yard (200 actually) is complete.

The main problem with any endurance training is a lack of goal attainment. Running 20 miles is fine, but at 10 miles your goal is to simply finish. You've not demanded more of your body than normal. Good luck to you!

Go to an area where you have about 150 yards and start at one end at a jog and gradually speed up until you get to a sprint. Then when you get to the last 10 yards slow down quickly to a walk. Repeat over and over. You should be sprinting more and more each time but don't tire yourself out right away.

Boxing is the only sport I've done that was even close to comparable to wrestling as far as stamina is concerned. I used to benifit greatly by doing wieght training with light weights and many reps. Go immidiately from one exercise to the next, like a continuous superset. Do about 10-12 exercises if you can. All you need to do is do that once every other day, (it is very hard to do) and do your regular wind sprint stuff like some of the other people mentioned.

Both, vary your workout daily, sprinting, and short 50m drills will increase your acceleration and quickness, something you need alot in soccer, and running 2 to 4 miles 2-3 times a week will improve your stamina. Overall listen to your body, if your very tired one day that you planed to run 3 miles only run 1 or walk 2 miles. If your hurt, not overly pain full just some tightness. just stretch more then normal and don't run do sit-ups leg lifts, and other exercises.

SPAR! The best way to get into boxing shape is to actually simulate the stress and energy exhausted in an actual fight. Spar more rounds than you actually fight to build stamina. Then run about 15 miles a week, jump rope and hit the heavy bag.

Long distance track coach taught me to break the track down into thirds. You sprint the first third, jog the second, then walk the final. Repeat as many times you can stand.

You need to do interval training.
0= walk
1= jog
2= run
3= sprint

set your pace to 1 for 30 sec, pick it up to 2 for 60 sec, go back to 1 for 30 sec, pick it up to 3 for 30 sec, back down to 2, then 1, up to 3, 2, 1, 2, 3, etc. Just like a fight. When you are finshed pace at 0 don't just stop. Make sure you stretch after, and drink lots of water.

Also jumprope is also very, very good.

Try running up stairs or up and down hills.

How can you be tired by second round but not tired from jogging? Push harder.
