You don't tell us if you are in the UK or USA. Whichever ... Check out your Kennel Club. They have a list of all breeds and can give you stacks of information!
As for pictures of dogs, you'll find most breeds have a website, owners club etc. So simply enter the name of one particular breed and visit websites. Alternatively you can try buying a good dog magazine. From Your Dog magazine, Dog Monthly etc ...

There are so many breeds, it would be nearly impossible to list all of the offshoots of pure-bred canines. It would probably take us the rest of our natural lives to compile it. However, there is a list of all AKC recognized dog breeds, it may be a good place to start your quest. Pics can be found all over the web, but the registered breeds on this site have pictures of them. I posted the link below, and I wish you luck....good question!

Since there are so many "rare" breeds and now people are making up their OWN "breeds" from mutts like Labradoodles and Goldendoodles and Yorkipoos, etc. So I think it would hard to find an exact list of ALL the breeds of dogs in the world.

There is a book called the "Eyewitness handbooks: Dogs" (they also have eyewitness handbooks for cats, horses, etc) They have the breeds of dog, basic facts and info about each breed, plus pictures that show coloration, markings, etc. Very informative and interesting. You can get it at a bookstore like Hastings or on Amazon.com.

Many Dog Food companies offer such a list and some have pictures of the different breeds. Contact www.purina-mills.com
and ask them for such a chart. Your nearest veterinarian may also have access to this material, given to them free sometimes by dog product manufactures trying to get their business. good luck.

Will have each breed recognized by the AKC and will have a picture of each dog and also a history of the breed with a description of the best qualities of the breed and what they were born to do.
Also a list of breeder of that type and breed clubs for the breed.
