If you say you know all - then you have stopped learning and when learning stops so does development.
The study of the scriptures might have made you a guru of the scriptures but that does not make you enlightened.
lessons of life learnt through Experiences teaches and you develop. however since you are well versed, i am sure you would know that so called heaven or whatever is where God resides and since the soul within you is a spart of him, you naturally have an affinity to go to "heaven". there is no eternal torture, it is agony one experiences due to ones ignorance...
people who keep on learning more only to find out how little they know and how much more there is to learn - have truly learnt.
1)some people know what they do not know
2)some people dont know what they dont know
3)and some people think they know all
better to be (2) than (3), as in (2) there is a possibility to move to 1, but for those in (3) - all learning stops. think about it.

Well, since you stated that you are well versed, then you should know your own answer. One who truly knows the scriptures would already know what is required of him/her and if he/she doesn't want to live up to that requirement then the only choice is to do without eternal bliss (as you put it). However, the bible doesn't say that all will go to heaven, nor does the bible state that hell is a place of torment. We all will go to hell (Christians or not) since we all die, we all will go to the grave - aka "hell". The bible says that the earth was meant to be inhabited so we have a chance to live forever here on earth when God wipes away all wicked people. And yes, I agree with you, both extremes would get boring, if you didn't truly understand what the bible offers mankind.

Should you believe in Hell and Heaven and in Jesus Christ you have absolutely nothing to lose and if you don't believe you have everything to loose, you have all the love that Jesus can offer you to lose and what a loss indeed.
Hell is torture, spending the rest of eternnity with the devil and murderers, rapers, and so on is not a pleasant thing. But spending eternity in Heaven is a reward from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Heaven is real, and it is where we will spend the first thousand years of eternity, then we will descend in the New Jerusalem back to Earth where the judgement of the unrighteous will take place and the Earth and all the unrighteous will be destroyed by Holy Fire. Hell is simply - DESTRUCTION (It will be as if you never exhisted).
Then God will make a new heavens and a new Earth wherein righteousness dwells. The world capital will be the New Jerusalem.

Don't ya think Hell's going to be a bit overcrowded? You may not need a "Scriptural lesson" but maybe a reminder of the fact that Scripture tells us that "Hell hath enlarged her mouth beyond measure." That leads me to believe that there will be a lot more people in Hell than Heaven, so why not strive for a place where we will never know aging, pain, sickness nor death ever again? Where we will be reunited with loved ones who've gone on before us so we can thank them for their influence in leading us to salvation? Where we can look upon the face of the One who took on all sin for all time through His manifestation on Earth in the personage of Jesus Christ and praise Him forever for making such a place of rest possible?

The French philosopher, Sarte, said it best, "Every person is born with a need in their heart that can only be satisfied by a relationship with God." We, you and I, were created to have a relationship with God. Heaven is the eternal fellowship with the One that can satisfy our every longing.
Hell is the eternal separation from that fellowship. Therein lies the torture. And it's not something that God desires or wants for us. Those that go to Hell are those that choose to go there.

uh...in order for it to be eternal torture, you would never become desensitized to it.
I don't know about you, but I would not look forward to that.
Besides, why would I not want to worship the One who made me and everything I have? If you do not want to worship God here, then maybe Hell would be a better place, because that will be primarily what we do in Heaven.

Well then if you knew the verses you would know that all your going to want to do is praise God in heaven....and Hell is a ver physical place and believe me....you will NOT get used to it! Can anyone ever get used to eternal pain! Its pretty much the worst place you could ever imagine....then muliply that by like...infinity! And as bad as hell is....Heaven is good!

Maybe they both keep changing to different things to suit you needs. Once I was at a country line dancing event and I thought- Wow, this must be what Hell is like... but maybe If I eventually grew to like country line dancing then the devil would send me-Paris Hilton and I would have to Liston to her talk and maybe just maybe if Paris Hilton some how grew on me, like a rare type of mold...POOF.. I am trapped in an elevator with Bob Dole.
That's my theory anyways!!
