I hope you come home safely, and I couldn't agree more with what you had to say.

I totally agree with your frustration Big-E and I empathize with your situation, not just the fear of being killed as a result of this unjustified war, but the effects of the depleted uranium that will eventually catch up with the soldiers, affecting not only them, but their children as well.
You may not be a bad guy, but there are other soldiers who have done very bad things which I am sure you are ware of.
But again, you are fighting in Iraq because you have a cause and a belief, which I will not question, but if you were on the other side, they too have a cause and belief, they are fighting to get their freedom from an unjustified war.
You say that the prisoners are still alive and get to see their families, some yes but others no.
Take the "Haditha" incident being the latest, they were not prisoners and they are dead. What about the young girl who survived and saw her whole family murdered before her eyes? What kind of reaction do you honestly believe she have will towards any soldier?
Other "released" prisoners, may have been released, but let me ask you, what is the effect of the torture, rape and degradation they endured on them and their families?
What about those sent to rendition centers - if they come back what do think they will be like - I would say they would be like the living dead.
I feel sorry for both sides and I do hope that you and all the others go back home.

I understand your need to vent... All military personnel need that at times. I cant say enough of how much I agree at times of your assessment, BUT I must also point out that to lower ourselves to their way of thinking only makes us the animals that they are (And they call us Barbarians and infidels) The rules we follow were made to insure that a people we capture has basic rights and that all "military" personnel will be safely interned and treated with respect as a respected foe. The rules were placed so all "Military" personnel would be safe from persecution and humiliation for doing a job his/her country has ordered. These "insurgents" are illegal even in their own country because they are not Military members and will eventually (If the laws are followed) most will be tried as war criminals and terrorist and murderers. I am praying every day that all of you over there come home safe and our actions will bring the respect of the peaceful people of the world, but I am saddened that another man or woman was murdered while trying to help the same people that killed him/her. Be strong and know we at home (and deployed) military personnel understand and respect your service and most of the people of the USA do to. Be as safe as possible and come home soon. Good Luck and Gods hand guide you as you perform your duties...

Sorry about your predicament and frustrations.
What gets me is the same garbage affecting inner city law enforcement has creeped into the military, i.e.: sensitivity and political correctness. First you're given a job, then by that same night you're given the first of an endless list of "YES-BUT" and "IN SPITE OF" and so forth.
In the end the job is made hellishly frustrating and aggravating by the politicians and top folk who never are front liners. They would never care to face the music themselves, nor would they send their own blood. They have those who do, and do as are told to the extent possible.
As I look upon the last three plus years I am bitter in the realization that this war was engineered by civilians who disregarded high rank military in the planning stages, but are full and ready to blame the same for their own failures.
Arabs in general are clannish, suspicious of foreigners by instinct, and NEVER forgive anyone, except for Christians, and there are Christian Arabs. Revenge is all they seek. From their vantage point they are absolutely correct.
Now try to tell otherwise ?
Please do vent all you want and come back again to do it. We DO NOT KNOW what you're going through exactly, but we can imagine a bit. Pray to God's Mercy that He'll bring you back to your family with your soul undamaged. This is from Italy.
Ciao.

A soldier is trained to kill ther's no doubt..The most humiliating profession for a human, is to serve for any Army I believe..You are brainwashed to serve your country and you may still believe this bullshit. I don't know where and when, but you are going to do the same like the other soldiers which you call comrades...
Check the history and see also other ''democratic'' military acts which will never bring any peace for the Mankind...
Fanatics will always try to govern the world , in the History there were others now USA and EU fanatics
İf you carry a gun and do what you are told
better be sure what you are fıghtıng for
if you are still human
Take care

You say people say you are the bad guys, NO!! It's only the lefty's and lefty media saying that. They are the reason we couldn't finish the Viet Nam war. They make it so hard on our military. There should be an outcry today from all Americans including the mainstream media and the anti-war lefties in Congress and elsewhere, who have made such noise regarding "inhumane" treatment of captured soldiers or insurgents at Guantanamo or any other place where they are held captive. Can you imagine the outcry there would be today if the situation were reversed? I doubt we will hear the same intensity in their voices or in their printed words regarding these two soldiers. We thank them for their ultimate sacrifice. We pray that God will uphold and provide strength for their families in this difficult time and in the days ahead. May God bless their memory. Let us continue to support and remember our soldiers in your prayers each day. And I will pray for you. Please be proud of yourself.

We're supposed to be the better side - civilized, decent, proper. Each time a tragedy like this happens, we raise questions with no answers. It's easy to be hard, to 'avenge' to feel a little better. We are not there with you physically to feel the actual realities in Iraq. But our hearts and prayers are. No need to be sorry. Do what you have to. Above all look after yourself... and your buddies. God bless.
