If your refrigerator stays at a low temperature milk will usually stay fresh a few days past the expiration date. If you are unsure test it by pouring some in a small glass. Smell it for sourness, then taste if there is no odor. Don't smell from the container because it can have a sour odor from the milk on the inside rim.

Generally the sell by date on milk is 1-2 weeks ahead of the drink by date. So in general, you've got just over a week after opening it (if you open it near the sell by date).

I think that the date of expiration on labels of products reflect 2/3 of real expiration time. But I would not play in case of milk. The problem is that its quality depends much on refrigeration. Some shops economize electricity and people buy "fresh" milk already sour.

you could save it until it no longer tastes good to you. It truly relies upon on while it became opened greater so than the "sell by" date, except it is way old. If it is interior of a few days of the date and has been open decrease than each and every week it is going to in all hazard be ok. basically pour some in a tumbler and see if it seems and scents ok and, if so, flavor it.

Last time I visited my mother I noticed her Milk was out of dat by 10 days and I told her that her milk was outdated and she told me that I was crazy and that it was still good if it was kept in fridge!!!LMAO I try drinking the milk before the date that is stamped on it and now I know why my mother feels sick all the time! lol I wish she would listen to me. The milk is bad at the date in which is stamped on it. Toss it into trash and don't be a fool!

It depends on the temperature at which it is stored, and if it's pasteurized.
I'd say 3-4 days max if you have pasteurized milk at roughly 37 degrees Farenheit.
In other countries they don't even refrigerate or pasteurize it, and it has a shelf life of 6 months.

It has to be discarted at midnight on the expiration date shown on the milk, one time it was like 30 seconds before midnight and I had to gulp down a half gallon of milk because it was expiring at midnight.

I used to work in a grocery store and we advised people to consume dairy products within a week after the sell by date... after that there's no guarantee that it will still be good.

Until it either smells bad or goes 'chunky'.
Also, from personal experience, do not test milk by opening the bottle and drinking from it. This is especially bad when the milk has gone 'chunky'.

Usually on milk it is "use by" date since it is cold dairy usually refrigerated after you get it home. I usually just "smell" it. I don't like milk so if it's bad, I KNOW it's bad by the smell.
