and make them look ok? I mean, I can cut a straight line but when I cut my bangs (and I have good scissors), they get screwed up and uneven. It doesn't make sense.

You are trying to cut too much hair at once. Wet your bangs and just cut a tiny amount at a time. Comb them after every little snip to see that they are staying even. Wet them again if they get too dry.

Take your time. You can't hurry beauty!

Most likely what is happening is the angle you are seeing them being cut, is not the angle that they need to be cut at. I would have someone else do them from the front just to make sure that they are in fact being cut straight.

If this has been tried either with a friend or at the salon, you could always try playing with the slightly longer bangs until maybe the length will weight itself down enough so that they are easier to cut. You could also go to www.headblade.com and just shave it off and start all over (kidding of course ;-) )

Your never supposed to cut your bangs straight across, because they'll come out crooked, If you cut at an angle they'll be straight and you'll get a little more volume.

Heres an easy way...(leave them dry so you see where calic is, if you have one)
Gather them between forefinger and thumb pull them to a point at the tip of your nose. Snip right above fingers...if not short enough just repete until short enough..ONLY REMOVING A BIT AT A TIME!!

Dont rush through it. Wet the hair and do it a little at a time like they do in the hair salons
