Many food stores have signs indicating people must wear shoes and shirts. If that is the store policy, then you should abide by it. However, I think it is perfectly fine to be barefoot in public and I do it quite often.

When the weather is cold, wet, snowy, etc all the reactions of people who see you barefoot can sometimes make you smile. Yes, of course it is cold, but if you are used to it you will be fine. The same for really hot weather. Hot pavement is okay if you are careful and know your limits. Often on hot days, the floor tiles of stores and malls are quite cool and refreshing after just walking on hot sidewalks.

When you are in places barefoot and are asked to leave, it is best to do exactly that. Do not display a bad attitude, simply say OKAY and leave as soon as possible. When I am barefoot I try to be as inconspicuous as possible and don't try to attract attention.

Barefoot is so much better than wearing stupid flip-flops, especially if they are the really cheap kind or are worn out. Girls and women look good barefoot.

People that go barefoot usually wash their feet at least twice a day, especially upon entering someones home. When was the last time you ever heard of anyone washing their shoes?

No, I dont think it's ok to go barefoot anywhere. It could be dangerous. My BF just was walking on the side walk to get the mail and stepped on a rusty nail. Now some might think well you know he needs to watch where he walks but still its not a good idea. I dont recomend it. Im not saying ive never done it, I have but I have gotten into some trouble also. I just dont think its wise. get some sandals or something and call it shoes.

I don't see anything wrong with that etiquette-wise, but you never know what you're stepping on, you might get an infection or something, or step on something sharp. I think it's better to wear shoes to those places, for hygiene and health reasons.

It depends on where you live too. I'd say it's not very risky to walk barefoot around the neighbourhood I grew up in, but I'd NEVER do it in the city I live in now.

YUK! I have seen it, and I don't think it is at all hygienic for the person who is doing that. No, I don't think it is okay for the person to go barefoot to those places. All of the junk on the ground and floor...imagine stepping into someone's gum or onto something sharp. Certainly not a good idea.

I don;t mind going bare foot to some place if I am just ducking down to the shop, the laundry matt I would be alittle bit more concerend with as it can pose a saftey risk, it is like the old saying is

Fingers were invented before forks!

So go with what you are comfortable with.

NO.. I don't think it is OK.... there are germs on every surface that you mentioned above, not to mention that it presents a health hazard. There are plenty of places you can walk around barefoot... but a grocery store where people to go get food is not one of them. Again, it is unsanitary and it presents a bad image of one in my eyes. They take no pride in themselves walking around with filthy bare feet.

Forget about etiquette. It can be dangerous - you could step on something sharp and cut your foot. Even worse - it could be a used needle ( seriously - I work in a hospital and it happens all too frequently). It only takes a few seconds to put on footwear - just slipons would do.

I don't think there is anything wrong with being barefoot. You just have to look a little harder at where you are going to walk.
