Religion into sexual violence and oppressing kids. Look at the history of christianity

Because people in the South are still conscious and in control of their morals!
The Bible is clear...spare the rod, and spoil the child. A resonable parent uses the rod wisely, and in this way stores treasure and a life worth living for their children in the future...
Many Parents who have misused or spared the rod when it should have been used, have reaped and given 'misery' a free ride on their own backs!

What kind of crap are you talking about? My momma is from the north (New Jersey) and my dad is from the south (Alabama). If you're meaning use spankings as a punishment, my momma's family does more of it. As it is, remember that bible says "Spare the rod, spoil the child". I consider myself to be from Mississippi. It's where we moved when I was ten and my parents retired (they were both Navy). My husband is from Oregon. When we started talking about marriage and kids he made it clear that he planned to spank. He isn't from the South. What's your view on that? By the way, we do spank our son, we he deserves it. It is NEVER done out anger and NEVER done to inflict pain. Don't judge lest ye be judged!

I'm from the South and I had 3 boys (all grown now). I spanked them when they were younger and I grounded them when they were older. I never had to go visit one of them in jail or make bail for any of them. They are fine service men serving their country and they have a healthy respect for their Mother. Is something wrong with that?

Why do people generalize about the southern people?? You have your head up you buttt!!!

People in the South, from what I've seen, tend to be more traditional in their attitudes, reckoning 'If it was good enough for my Dad, and his Dad before him...'. Also in many of the southern states, like Texas, it's still legal for kids to get paddled in high school, which presumably reflects parental attitudes.

Because the north considers themselves to be "morally enlightened" - whereas the south is more of an eye for an eye .

It's already been said, but I'll say it succinctly. The south is more religious and the north is more liberal.

Because most southerners still believe in God and the Bible and are not so foolish as to think they know better the He does.
