Will anything happen to her?
For how long will she be sedated?

My question: Why to give an antidepressant for cat, used to treat anxiety disorders in humans?

2nd thing: Most of human pills are developed for 70 kg persons...
For humans alprazolam (xantax) is given in doses 0.5-1mg 2-3 times a day... So, if your cat weights about 5 kg, you may imagine that she received 15 times higher doze.

I noticed a number of promotional websites in internet now. It is clear that such crimes against animals are happening non-stop.

Besides, cats are more sensitive to a number of medication. I believe she may end bad after this treatment.

I think you should get her to the vet quickly. I just read an article that said giving a cat 1 baby aspirin is equal to a human taking 30 aspirin! If her body handles the zanax in a similiar way, I would think that you've given her an overdose.

Never ever give your animal medicines with out the express consent of your veterinarian. You should call the emergency vet right now. A vet needs to know her history her weight and all sorts of medical information. This is extremely dangerous! This is how animals die!

did a vet tell you to do this? why would you give it to her and then ask if you did the right thing? i guess if your cat would have died you would know wouldnt you? i dont understand why as pet owners, some people act before they think or get advise. i would call and ask a vet. you never know if it could cause health concerns later on down the line.

NO!

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give human medicine to cats! Your average human is going to be a lot bigger than the kitty, and some things that a human can eat with no ill effects are poisonous to your feline friend.

The one exception is if a vet prescribes it- and that's going to be in considerably smaller doses.

If the vet didn't prescribe it for her, there is a good chance it's not good for her. Cat's bodies can not absorb what our bodies can - their is a good chance you may have poisoned your cat, and she may not come out of her sedation. You need to call your vet immediatly and tell them what you have done to see if she needs any emergency treatment.,

That was not a smart thing to do. Cats can die from some human medicines. If your vet didn't prescribe it, you shouldn't give it to her. What you did is practice medicine without a license, and it is ILLEGAL.

What you should do is give the cat to someone who wont abuse her. Thats not an animal med and your not the most intelligent person for giving it now and asking questions later.

Sedation should be done by a vet only. If the cats needs her teeth cleaned take her to the vet, do not sedate her yourself.

You probably just killed your cat..unless you get it to a vet ASAP. That was a horrible thing to do..don't delay..take it there NOW! IF you don't it will die, that is strong stuff for us humans!!!
