Just look up, Davinci, The Last Supper.
The painting does represent Mary Magdelene. davinci is showing that his beliefs are of a more realistic, balanced world. The catholic church has done its best to squash females. Think about it.
I think you are too young, but there was a time woman wereconsidered "unclean" and couldn't be in public setings while menstruating. Who do you think started that? The church.
Davinci's observations and studies give a more realistic, believable picture of what was going on. One doesn't need faith in the bible or church to believe the scenerio, either. It is on its own.

It is "Mona Lisa" but this time Leonardo painted her as the controversial Maria Magdalena. The 'slutty' smile of Mona Lisa is still evident here and Da Vinci painted Magdalena right next to Jesus. Leonardo at this point has nothing to loose and painted what he envisioned how the scene should be depicted without fear of any repercussion. Magdalena is the liberated 'gypsy-feminist' in those times and undoudtedly the most controversial woman in the whole Bible story.

I think it's just a fanciful thought that the Da Vinci Code author had while looking at the painting...
The Last Supper is in such desperate need of restoration if you cross your eyes for long enough the person sitting next to Jesus could look like anything you wanted it to!

Well, it seems to be a woman but who knows. I especially liked, in the movie, when the changed the woman`s place from the right of Jesus to the left. Did you see it?
It´s like Jesus is holding her...
Anyway, it is also said that John (one of the favourite disciples) looked a bit like a woman. So, maybe it`s him...
In truth, only Davinci can say who/what it is and we all know he ain`t gonna answer this one... But I can tell you he loved a practical joke. So, maybe he did put a woman in the painting but as a joke

First of all, The DaVinci Code is a work of FICTION. Secondly, it's just Saint John the Baptist. Saint John is supposed to look effeminate, and what often happened was that painters would make him look like their lover (male or female) and give him extremely androgynous characteristics. What's more likely based on what we see in The Last Supper is that Saint John looks like Leonardo's lover... just look at other paintings Da Vinci did of Saint John, that's a very androgynous looking man, as the Bible says he should look. Look at Caravaggio's versions of John, he did tons of them... I wonder what would have encouraged him to paint so many Saint John's. It's probably the case that his lover was the model in each (they all look like the same model to me) which would be a convenient excuse to entertain himself and his lover. These painters were commissioned to paint works that reflected the scripture and so they did, but they worked in their own life where possible.

That would be fresco of The Last Supper and although the figure may look like a woman it is widely believed that it is John as he was traditionally protrayed as feminine.

Why would I think it was a woman. Traditionally man in those times dressed a lot like women in our times. But to judge a 500 year old painting by our standards and not by their standards is ignorant.

could be St. John, who was - according to the bible - the "most loved disciple" (and here we are talking about a homosexual relationship in renaissance terms).
